False positive??

Background, I have diagnosed PCOS with quite severe symptoms. Came off the pill early Feb, expecting to need fertility help. Have only dtd four times since then due to working away for nearly a month, family bereavement and me not feeling well, we weren't really actively trying, I was just letting my body get used to no contraceptive hormones as I've been on the pill for years. I have gained weight about a stone but I've not been going to the gym much and have been less careful about my diet since our wedding in January, so didn't think too much about it. Had breakthrough bleed as usual after stopping the pill, then one normal period 31 days later which surprised me as I used to be really irregular. It's now 78 days since my last period. Took a test to reassure myself that is just my normal irregularities, this is the picture. It looks like a positive to me, but I feel like it's too good to be true?? Am I seeing things? Are false positives common?

False positive??

That's probably the most positive test I've ever seen.

False negatives yes, but false positives of that clarity are rate.

Congratulations!

‘Royally up duffed’ I believe is the technical term.

I agree! It looks very positive to me! Congratulations!

False negatives are much more common than false positives!

Thank you all! I can't believe it I thought we were in for a real uphill struggle. I'll get a digital test today and will book a doctor's appointment to triple check. Found out SIL is pregnant a week ago so looks like the grandparents might have a lot on their hands!

Looking super duper positive to me :D

Get one of the clearblue with the weeks indicators. That'll give you an estimate of how many weeks since conception, which might be more helpful than going by lmp with PCOS :)

Gosh that is very definitely a positive op. Congratulations !

Having worked for the makers of Clearblue for many years I can categorically state that there is no such thing as a false positive! You are either pregnant and producing the hCG hormone (thus giving a positive test result), or not. No pregnancy, no hCG, no positive line.

You can get false negatives, but not false positives.

So you are very much pregnant. I would go to your GP and ask for a dating scan if you aren't sure on dates. Congratulations!
