So my partner has surprised me with a scan at window to womb tomorrow and I will be 31 weeks, has anyone had a scan at this stage and just wondering how good pictures were? Also do I need a full bladder like I did in the early stages of pregnancy? And should I still have something sugary just before to wake baby?

You don't need a full bladder - I was told at 16 weeks you don't really need a full bladder at that point so by now you definitely won't. (The full bladder is to get your uterus in the right position - by 31 weeks I don't think your bladder will shift it!)

I don't know about the sugar, sorry.

I had a growth scan at 38 weeks, and it was totally different to the 20 week scan. At 20 weeks they are small enough that you can see the whole baby at once, at 38 weeks it was more like "that's an arm... ooh there's the leg...". Still amazing, but very different! You won't need a full bladder, and you'll probably be able to tell if the baby is awake before hand anyway - drinking something cold can get them going if they're a bit quiet and you want to see them moving, or you could just have a look at a peaceful baby.

I had one at 30 weeks. We could see the head on the screen up to the heart. To see other body parts the sonography had to concentrate on one area at a time. The whole baby didn't fit on the screen at once.

I had a video of my twins with one of them kissing the other at 28 weeks or less and the pictures were very good.
