4 weeks 3 days pregnant - am I definitely miscarrying?

Hi all,

Just hoping for some advice...

I took an early pregnancy test two days before my period was due and it was positive. I took a second test on the first day of my missed period and it was positive too. Later that day I had some brown spotting when I wiped. The next day (yesterday) the blood turned to red and I had cramps and backache. I went to my GP who told me to call my local EPU but they wouldn’t see me as it was so early and told me they thought I was miscarrying and to wait it out and take a home pregnancy test a week later to check I had fully miscarried.

Today I have not had any cramps at all and although I am still bleeding it is only when I go to the loo, not needed to change my pad at all. I’m so confused, am I definitely miscarrying? Yesterday I was resigned to it, but I expected the cramps to last longer and to bleed more heavily...is it just because it’s such an early miscarriage?

I had the nasty brown blood, it was very scary. But everything was fine, DS is 19 now

Honestly? It could go either way.

Brown blood is usually old blood and come be nothing serious, however all of my miscarriages started with spotting brown blood.

Rest up and keep an eye on it. Keeping everything crossed for you.

May be implantation everything burrowing in there x

It is so scary but I think you are just going to have to wait it out...i have bled with both my two successful pregnancies and didn't bleed with my three miscarriages so I think there is no hard and fast rule.

You have my sympathy as it is so horrible and tortuous not knowing. Fingers crossed for you. Flowers

With my very early losses it was pretty easy to tell as the pregnancy tests got much much lighter.

Pipkin23 · 09/05/2018 19:59

I thought that when it was just brown, but after it turned red and I had cramps yesterday I thought it was all over, but no more cramps today. I guess I just have to wait it out. It’s my first pregnancy so I’m very new to this.

Will be thinking if you, Pop Flowers

I'm 4 weeks and getting period like cramps, but had a positive pregnancy test a couple of days before my missed period, like you. Currently waiting to do another test in a couple of days and hoping I don't get any bleeding.

Would be much easier not knowing you're pregnant for the first 8-12 weeks Sad

I hope your cramps just turn out to be pregnancy pains. It’s horrid waiting and wondering.

I am still unsure today as my bleeding seems to be stopping. On the whole I think it’s probably over, but just have to wait a while to do a test and confirm.

Fingers crossed for you. Flowers

I have this now too (think I’m 8 weeks, scan later to confirm). Spoke to my unit about it and they suspect it may be either cervical erosion, which sounds scary but is normal, or implantation of the placenta as very light and intermittent. Still nervous! Hope you are ok x

Thinking of you, Littlegoth. Hope all turns out well. You’re further along than me, they won’t scan me this early. Just have to wait and see. Do you mind me asking what your bleeding is like and how much you’ve had?
