Full glucose test?

I am booked in for a FULL glucose tolerance (as opposed to the standard) test booked in tomorrow and was wondering if anyone else has had this. My father has type 1 diabetes (incidentally so does DH, brother in law and my cousin!) so they think I am high risk. The midwife said I cannot eat or drink anything from midnight before. I don't really know what it will entail and I know it is silly but I get really paranoid about not being able to drink water! Midwife says it will take about 3 hours?! Any advice?

Sounds like what I had. I wasn’t allow any food or drink apart from water from 9pm the night before. My test was at 09:20 where they took the first blood sample and made me drink the glucose drink .... had to sit in the dr waiting room for 2 hours before another blood test was taken.

Then I was free to go and finally eat! I was told if I tested positive for GD I’d be contacted within a few days but if I didn’t eat anything then my midwife would follow up with me at my net routine appointment
