Sharp pain playing tennis

Ow! Was playing tennis this afternoon and was taking it really easy and not running much (am almost 20 weeks pregnant)... and then stupidly went for a tricky backhand and twisted and reached to get it. Lower left of my abdomen REALLY hurt!! Is this just round ligament pain from overstretching?? It's hard to do any damage to the baby just from a bit of tennis, right?? Bit worried now and feel kind of guilty...

Sounds like round ligament pain so try not to panic. However my pregnancy book says you should generally avoid ball sports because of the risk of impact so maybe give tennis a miss from now on ;)

Oh man! Really? Why is that- risk of falling I guess? I've already given up ice skating and mud runs... I thought tennis would be fairly harmless! :(
Thanks for the advice

It's because of the ball hitting you I think. I have had lots of the round ligament pain you describe - perhaps take it easy and be careful when you go back to exercise as it can really start it off. Now I'm later in the pregnancy it is less of an issue for me.

Thanks. Yeh it hurt all last night so must be it. Better today though and baby is kicking up a storm so all okay I think. Will be more careful in future. Thank you!
