Hi,
I'm 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant and have a sudden onset of back pain. It feels like I've strained my back and is too painful to bend over. I am worried as I know back pain can indicate a miscarriage, but I have no bleeding or cramping just a very achey back. If it helps this is my first pregnancy and I'm very petite. I also have a very violent cough at the moment which might of contributed.

Is this normal or alarming and how can I ease it? I didn't think you could ache this early on?

Hi had this problem early on in my pregnancy. I had to just take paracetamol and rest a hot water bottle on my back and since then I've had no pain. I would say if you are worried just give the midwife a call. If you haven't got any pain in your stomach hopeful your okay.
Congratulations on your pregnancy x

I had absolutely horrendous back pain early on in both of my pregnancies. It was like the backache I get before and during periods but much worse. It's likely to be nothing so I wouldn't worry, obviously if you have any other signs that worry you then get yourself checked out but for now try to to stress about it. You'll spend the next 33 weeks second guessing every twinge but most of the time it's completely normal Smile
