Hi ladies, I'm 33 weeks so beginning to make lists for bags however I'm struggling with what food I should pack for me? I've got energy drinks and lucazade sweets but clueless for what would be handy?
I'm midwife led so hoping for a shorter stay any suggestions welcome!

We're moving this to the pregnancy boards at OP's request.

(My tip is brunch bars and pringles)

I had cereal bars as they were easy to eat one handed (even better if you can get some of the protein ones designed for post-workout). Also some prunes, nuts and dark chocolate. I got a bit sick of sweet stuff to be honest and got dh to bring me some fresh fruit. Orange juice cartons are good and one of those squash pod things to encourage you to drink plenty, if that's your thing!

I loved my Belvita cereal biscuits-I couldn't get enough of them! I also second cartons of juice, which can be good for energy too. I think this time around I may also pack some haribo or similar.

Bobbles to tie back your hair - comfy clothes for hot and cold temperatures. Giant knickers and plenty of them for after the birth. Maternity pads. A large bottle of water with a straw. Books. Phone charger.

Ha! Totally missed the bit about it just being food!

Well I had gestational diabetes so just packed nuts and water

There is another post on here at the moment and someone on there said a packet of tuc biscuits for something savoury and as they salty may help replace any lost salts.

I kept vomiting during labour and the only thing I could keep down was nairns oatcakes which I'd periodically nibble.

Take those Robinson juice triangle things as they take up no space and you can just add a shot to water. Personally I found lucozade sports drinks unbearably sweet whilst I was in labour (and I have a huge sweet tooth) and couldn't drink them. The Robinsons was less sweet (after birth I had a mad craving for orange tango and made dp hunt one down) plus make lukewarm hospital water taste nicer.

Take more food than you think you need, I've never been as hungry as I was after giving birth. I'd take belvita biscuits, jaffa cakes and mini cheddar next time.

Flapjack, Lucozade and Lucozade sport, rice krispie squares and cheese sandwiches (pre made and frozen so we can grab on the way out) is what we've packed. I will now be packing tuc biscuits too, Thanks!

Headphones, nurofen, food (individually wrapped portions of buttered Soreen Maltloaf saved me!) and very importantly...ear plugs. If you end up on a ward there's nothing worse than listening to everyone's phones/TV/visitors and of course babies!

bluechameleon · 09/05/2018 21:37

My PIL bought me dark chocolate lindor and they were fab for giving me a quick sugar boost to keep me awake for night feeds. I packed some chocolate brioche rolls which went down well, and dried apples.

LRL2017 · 09/05/2018 21:38

I packed cartons of juice which were great post labour. I also packed those onion ring crisps but didn't open them as they stink and don't think other people on Ward would have appreciated it!

Cosmoa · 09/05/2018 22:02

I have..

-Dried Mango
-Cranberries (well.. Craisins)
-Potatoes crisps
-Tuc biscuits/crackers
-Few packs of fruit pastels
-Multipack of apple and mango ribena

Also gonna put some change in my bag for my partner to use the vending machine if it's late and he needs something for himself too Grin
