Hi all i have been looking up and thinking about getting witch hazel to add to pads for after-birth to help my lady parts, do you think this would work? If not anything you could recommend? Thanks 😘

Oh god no, you don't want to be putting tea tree down there at the best of times! You just want plain witch hazel which you can get in any pharmacy.

Ooh no tea tree stingy!

You can buy pure witch hazel. Lloyds sell it but so should an independent. Holland and Barrett probably have it too

I use it anyway for minor injuries but got another bottle for after child birth. I drizzled it on pads, I also used it to clean by gently patting a cotton wool round pad that had it on, on and around stitches, not too often as to not get sore but at least once a day (water at other times)

Tea tree oil you can use but in a bath, it has to be diluted

I had a second degree tear/stitches. Healed up lovely no issues. Be discerning about pads some really irritated :-(

I didn't know about with hazel but was recommended when I'd had my two babies (they are now 4&6) to have a quick shallow bath with a few drops of lavender oil (just a few drops) and some Epsom bath salts, quick swish around but no soaking as would dissolve the stitches before they should really be gone. (You might not need/ have stitches to worry about!)

I had little pads soaked in witch hazel, I think they are for piles but they were brilliant. I used to put about three in a line over my maternity pads in my big disposable knickers. Ah, the wonders of childbirth!

I'll see if I can find out the name if I ever get this child back in it's cot...
