Help!

I’m 12+2 days pregnant and for the last three days I’ve had very light bleeding that’s been a brownish colour. It’s only generally there ones I’ve wiped. This has came with lower back pain on the right with a constant ace that feels like it’s going right through me. I had a silent miscarriage three years ago and super paranoid as from what I remember this is how it started.

I’m also really anygry with my doctors as despite going to them when I was 3 weeks pregnant I’ve only last week had my first midwife appointment and still had no bloods. On a positive I’ve got my first scan in three days I just hope the outcome is good and nothing seems to get worse.

Hi so sorry to hear this. I myself have had 2 miscarriages so know how heartbreaking it is. Could you not ring our epu ask if they can get you in any earlier to put your mind at rest? Good luck x

I recommend phoning EPAU too, they might not be able to do an earlier scan (as yours is very soon) but it’s worth a go and they might be able to do other checks in the meantime eg check your cervix is closed.

In my area the midwife does the bloods at the booking in appointment but I know in lots of areas they are done at the dating scan, maybe that’s their intention?

I think it’s fairly standard to have your booking in appointment between 8-12 weeks, so don’t worry you haven’t missed anything - it’s not determined by how early you inform them of pregnancy. (I suspect they don’t do them too early because of the hig chance that the baby will sadly be lost in the first few risky weeks so it would be a waste of resources - awful to think about but sadly v common ).

I have had a loss too (ectopic) so I know a bit how you must be feeling but lots of people bleed a bit and it’s fine! Fingers crossed for you!

I have almost exactly these symptoms too, although I am only 7 weeks along. I have also had a loss of other symptoms like tiredness and sore boobs. Really worried and bracing for bad news.
The not knowing is the worst part I think.
I've decided to book a private scan tomorrow. I'd rather not have to pay £100 to find out I am going to miscarry, but I very much doubt the NHS will do an early scan at 7 weeks.
Can you call your GP tomorrow and ask to be seen for a scan sooner?

I had a scan at 7 weeks on NHS (admittedly it was because my previous ectopic pregnancy put me at greater risk of a second and they wanted to check, but worth a go with your symptoms too!). Good luck!

Thanks Marriageofminds - it's good to know it's possible. I will try calling the doctor before private clinic and see what they say in the morning. Worth a shot.

Hi! I had bleeding over the weekend, contacted EPU and they seen me immediately. Checked me over and also scanned me. I'm 7 weeks today. Definitely worth going they were great!
