When did you first see the midwife?

I'm 8 weeks or so pregnant and the dr referred me to the midwife at 6 weeks but I've heard nothing from on them. I'm sure with my previous pregnancies I'd had my booking in appointment by now.

How far on were you when you had your first midwife appointment? So I can see if I'm being overeager!

I was around 9 weeks

PenguinChristmas · 07/05/2018 13:31

My area see you between 8-11 weeks for booking in.

lindyhopy · 07/05/2018 13:35

I had my booking appt at 11 weeks which seemed so long to wait

LisaSimpsonsbff · 07/05/2018 13:50

11+3. Unless you need to have one to get the 12 week scan booked then I don't really understand why people want to have them early - they can't tell you anything about how things are going with the pregnancy.

Evangeline3 · 07/05/2018 13:57

Between 8-12 weeks.
Call and ask when your appointment is.

wombats · 07/05/2018 13:57

I've been wondering the same. Had my GP visit for referral at 7 weeks, now 10 weeks and heard nothing further. Quite keen to have the 12 week scan as had previous losses.

Girlwiththearabstrap · 07/05/2018 14:08

I had mine at 10 weeks I think. Do you need to see your midwife to get the 12 week scan booked? In my area they book them when you phone up to self refer so there's no real rush to see a MW.

Mousefunky · 07/05/2018 14:12

I had my booking appointment this time at 12 weeks which was late because the scan is only booked in during that appointment and it ended up being at 13+6 so literally the last day they could do the nuchal fold.

With my other pregnancies I had the booking appointment between 8-10 weeks.

BridgeFarmKefir · 07/05/2018 14:17

9 weeks for my booking in appt. It's quite important as they take blood, check your urine, take your medical history. Varies by area I think but definitely worth a call. I seem to be quite lucky in my area as all my appts have been booked in good time and the process has been made v clear. No one will mind if you just check :)

xLeanne128 · 07/05/2018 15:09

I was refered to midwife 2 weeks ago lmp but me at 6 weeks she made me appointment for 2 weeks time (tomorrow) so 8 weeks 3 days since LMP but I think I'm more 7+3. I have community midwives at my doctors which seems to of sped things up.

BlueBug45 · 07/05/2018 15:15

In my area it's between 8-11 weeks. They send your scan appointment at the same time as the booking.

You can self refer to the midwives in my area. No need to see your GP first. Unfortunately getting that information out of the GP's receptionist may be a problem.

Waggily · 07/05/2018 15:20

I will need to see the midwife to book my scan. I think this is why I'm worrying as I had bad news at my 12 week scan last year and I'd rather have the scan earlier rather than later so I don't have as long to worry about it (and hopefully feel relieved earlier). I might ring tomorrow and check. Thank you

They won't give you an early scan unless you've had 3 losses or you're unsure about when your LMP was, so as to date the pregnancy. The midwife appointment is usually around 10/12 weeks. I had my scan at 13 weeks.

Bibijayne · 10/05/2018 11:31

8 weeks.

SoyDora · 10/05/2018 11:35

10 weeks with my first 2. Currently pregnant with no 3 and have an appt booked for 8 weeks (they said they do it between 8 and 10 weeks)

hammeringinmyhead · 10/05/2018 11:35

10 weeks for me.

YourHandInMyHand · 10/05/2018 11:40

Aw I'd just call them and ask. Explain about your loss last year, they'll understand. Even if they just tell you, yes we have you on the list of ones that need booking in, it will put your mind at ease that you've not been forgotten and will see someone soon.

Waggily · 10/05/2018 15:21

Thanks everyone. I rang and asked and they booked me in for Saturday (who knew they did booking in appointments on a weekend!).

I didn't mean an early scan but rather one near 11.5 weeks than 13+. The midnight worrying is slowly killing me, I'd hate to wait longer than necessary.
