Visited petting farm today - worried about sheep

I know it isn’t lambing season any more and I was only walking past the sheep enclosure with one sheep in it, but I still can’t help worry about the risk of being around sheep etc and the potential diseases they carry.

I washed my hands thoroughly after being in the petting zoo area and got DD and DH to the same. I’m sure I am being pretty paranoid as there were no lambs or pregnant sheep around, but I just wondered if I should be worried at all?

I didn’t come into contact with any of the enclosure it was in or the sheep itself. I think I am just getting myself worked up about nothing but would be seriously devastated if something happened after coming so far along in my pregnancy... I’m 33w3d and baby is moving ok at the moment.

You'll be fine. It's only if you're around sheep giving birth that it can be problematic. Don't worry.

Thank you! I know I am worrying about nothing! It does make me paranoid reading all the stuff online - maybe I should try to avoid the internet unless it is official advice from the NHS website!

Lots and lots of children are born to women who live all year round on sheep farms. I counted at least 10 at the BBQ I was at last night

Toxoplasmosis isn't airborne you have to ingest it from sheep afterbirth fluids, undercooked meat, cat poo or unwashed veg grown in toxo infected soil to get it.
