Ugh. Sorry I’ve trawled and trawled the internet and tried asking family and I just don’t know what to think.
Had my antenatal appointment yesterday all is well, head not engaged yet mind you he is in uniform position bum to my belly just hasn’t lodged himself down there quite yet. On and off for weeks now two and a half I’ve had period like cramps on and off in my lower back and pelvis area, I’ve lost some mucus nothing blood tinged, however today for the past five hours nearly I’ve had constant period cramps and they’re not shifting nor getting any better no matter what I do, these are mostly in my back and also in my pelvis. Have also had dull ache in my pubic bone region all day on and off, and lots of stabbing sensations internally (cervix). I don’t know if it’s just my body getting ready or maybe early labour. I’m so apprehensive and confused about it because at 36 weeks I wasn’t very well I got very dehydrated from vomiting and had the same pain then, when I went to the hospital to get checked I ended up in overnight and they told me I was having regular contractions and showed me on the fetal monitoring the contractions but I didn’t feel anything that I thought was contractions just this same period pain like I have now. Any experiences? If it doesn’t go away or gets worse I will of course ring my maternity unit I just don’t want to just yet. People keep saying to me ‘oh you’ll know when you have a contraction’ but I didn’t know on that day and I’ve not been able to tell if I’ve had Braxton Hicks or anything. My belly is constantly quite hard, I’m quite a small person and it’s been like this for ages. Baby is moving so I’m not worried about him per say just don’t know what I’m experiencing!

It could well be early labour, if it is they will continue and get regular and stronger. Have you tried timing any yet to see how often they are coming?
They could die off later, it's not uncommon for this to happen a few times before labour fully starts but if you are unsure you can always ring the labour ward and ask for advice.

I’ve been noting down how often it happens it’s just gotten me really frustrated because it has gone on for so long and there’s been no changes just got a bit worse and I don’t know how I’m meant to time that really. However it seems to be easing now, really don’t know what to think 😩

I had a couple of moments like this, where I was having period like pain, low abdomen and back area, that lasted on and off for a few hours, then disappeared.

I assumed they were braxton hicks.

When I did go into early labour, the pain was stronger and more regular. Also more wave like, would start off light and then build to a peak then drop off again.

Sounds like your body and baby are starting to prepare, but it could be a while before you have little one, I went 9 days over, but that doesn't mean you will.
