So I'm pregnant with my first, I'm 33 weeks and getting a bit slow and tired now, can't do loads of walking anymore and my feet are starting to get a bit swollen sometimes, eek. We have most the stuff we need for baby but not everything, we are also going to be moving house when baby is 3 months old and the house we are moving into is going to be done up for us to move into so we also need to go and pick all the flooring, kitchen, bathroom etc before baby is born. And I haven't sorted my hospital bag yet either.

Am I leaving things a bit late? I feel like I have lots of time but then I imagine in a few more weeks time I won't want to be traipsing around looking at kitchens and baby hats so...when did you have everything ready by?

I frantically got everything ready Tuesday night ready to be admitted to hospital on Wednesday. I basically dumped all the bits and pieces I bought for the past few weeks in a suitcase. This is my second baby though but with my first I was super organised, packed and ready by 28/30 weeks.

About a week after she arrived :)

I listened to my stupid mother who had been telling me that “everyone” in our family goes two weeks overdue. She was so confident she booked a holiday for my 38-40th weeks, then she’d be back in plenty of time.

So my plan was to finish work at 38 weeks, have a couple of days in town buying the essentials, arrange for the cot and pram to be delivered (was ordered), then have 2-3 weeks sitting on the sofa watching boxed sets.

I finished work at 8pm on monday, and my waters broke at midnight.

Fortunately unless you live in the arse end of nowhere dh can nip to the shops and everything will be fine.

Sorry @reallyanotherone but that did make me chuckle!
I have convinced myself that I am going two weeks over and have a pretty similar plan to yours!
Going to look a bit silly if it doesn't go that way.
But as you said with Amazon prime etc. And living in a big town I am sure that there isn't anything we can over hold of if needed.

Never finished getting ready with my first (39+4), second I was ready at about 30 weeks... this time I’m 37 weeks and I’m kind of ready I think? I need to sort out bedding but I think that’s it.
It’s been difficult because we moved a few week ago, and now I’m massive so it’s much more difficult. I suggest you get all physical stuff done before you become an actual whale

First one - had baby at 34+5 and my husband had to bring stuff into hospital etc.
This time round, I'm 5 days away from my due date and obviously we have the big things already from first time round. I've not packed my bag yet but plan to over the weekend.

I'd say unless you have massive problems with your pregnancy you'll be able to cope with a bit of shopping and packing of bags later on won't you? I'm still doing normal things at nearly 40 weeks - I'm pregnant, not incapacitated.

36 weeks here and finishing work today! Tuesday I’ve blocked out to go and buy all the stuff we need. Already got the big stuff like pram and car seat. Then I’m hoping from 37 weeks I can chill and have a bit of tjme to myself! Knowing my luck baby will be 2 weeks over and I’ll be sitting around at home going quietly insane!

Ugh, Ive been struggling from about 34 weeks and will be 39 tomorrow.

I have many unfinished piles of sorting out and washing to do and need a proper look at my gathered together pile of stuff for my hospital bag. I was definitely sorted earlier last time!! I think the main bits are now all in rough place it's just muddly! I ordered a couple of bits off amazon this morning (waterproof cover for cot, soft night nursing bra) . Then googled clematis....Hmm

I think the fact that I went to 42 weeks has put a lackadaisical outlook on things. I had a wack load of pressure and cramps last night and did some more panicked things eg setting up the cot bedding and packing a wash bag but I think it was the veg curry I'd been batch cooking and eating all day!

Have an elcs section booked in 9 days so I'm aiming to get last faffy bits done this weekend amid some nice days out so I can do guilt free nice things next week (or it's not an issue if baby comes!)

I'm definitely a 42 seeker...

Baby’s room, clothes etc have been ready since about 28 weeks (but I’ve been off work sick and extremely bored) however the rest of my house.... you currently can’t get into our spare bedroom for love nor money 😂 it’s a bank holiday weekend job!

GummyGoddess · 04/05/2018 09:26

Well I'm 37 weeks now, baby has no mattress or washed clothes... I'm getting to it, just need to finish reorganising the house first.

I do have nappies and blankets that dc1 use, I also have boobs so he won't go hungry and I have a DH with a car who can go get me things and do the washing.

I really really need to sort out a mattress for the crib, and actually assemble the crib I guess. Will start the clothes washing when I've finished washing my bedding.

MyNameIsTotoro · 04/05/2018 09:44

Depends how you define "ready"!

I'm 38 weeks and we have all the stuff we need in the loft (second DC). I've got a baby box full of newborn-3month old clean washed clothes and a pack of nappies. It's shoved in a corner though whilst we're trying to finish some DIY.

So, we've technically got everything but it's not necessarily in its final place.

If baby came today DH would have to dig out the Moses basket and mattress from the loft. I'd like another week or so to get the house sorted.

Cosmoa · 04/05/2018 10:10

I'm 37+5 weeks and I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be!

Meaning we have all the baby stuff we need and my bag is packed. I also only live a 4 mins drive from the hospital so I'm not too worried about the fact my partner hasn't packed his bag yet!

Could do with adding some snacks and change to my bag but that's about it!

brogueish · 04/05/2018 12:30

35 weeks here and we've got a lot of "stuff" but I don't feel very ready! Sorting the hospital bag this weekend as well as clearing out a load of clutter because we're having some work done on the house for the next few weeks (re-doing the en suite and decorating baby's room). It'll be fiiiiiine... Blush
