because a quick web search just tells me i'm likely to be pale and tired!

no risks to the baby then?

Thanks! Am going to the doctor's next Friday now...

I have very anaemic whilst pregnant with DD2.

The tablets they gave me made me sick.

Thankfully, MN to the rescue! Spatone sachets helped a lot.

I've been prescribed Fersamel liquid iron as the iron tablets give me a very dodgy tummy. I've been fine with the liquid stuff though so may be worth asking to have that prescribed instead.... Don't have to pay out then!

Those tablets also ripped my guts up, RF.

Vomitting, diarrhea, nausea.

WAY worse than the overwhelming fatigue I felt from the anaemia.

I paid out because at the time my GP surgery was worthless.

Expat, glad it wasn't just me - Got fed up being told "OH iron usually constipates people" doesn't have that effect on me! Feeling MUCH better now though.

Tutter, you really need to take something as if you are anaemic prior to delivery you are likely to be worse after the birth, and anaemia combined with baby blues is not a nice state of affairs!

On a slight tangent, one of my midwives who came out to see me after DD was born recommended Sanatogen Wine. It is a fortified wine and she said they used to recommend it to all new mums years ago for a bit of a boost. She told my DH to go and get some and told me to take a little sherry glass once a day. (This was AFTER delivery please note!)
