Hi All,
I'm new to writing questions on this site but I always find the other parents advice and help on here so useful. I have a little boy but me and my partner decided we'd actually like to try for another baby. Successful we were booked in to our dating scan, and found out we were actually expecting fraternal twins, however things quickly hanged as the lady failed to find a heart beat on either. I've been wanting twins my entire life but never thought I'd be so lucky. But I am wondering, what are the chances of me conceiving twins again? They don't run in either my family or my partners (well we don't really know if they run in mine as my grandma was adopted and never found her birth mother). They was conceived naturally but I'd just love to know if we are in with a chance of having twins again.

Thankyou all xx

The natural rate for twins is about 1 in 80, but varies significantly by race.

Identical twin rate doesn't vary by race and isn't inherited: as far as we know it is random.

Fraternal twins are more likely to older mothers, and for subsequent children.

If you've conceived twins already, your likelihood of doing so again is twice the normal rate, apparently.

Overall I think it's less likely you will have twins again, but the odds are not necessarily crazy.
