I’m really struggling and overwhelmed with exhaustion these past 2 weeks. Pregnancy is taking its toll. Job is stressful and I’ve stayed at home since Monday. If I self certificate for a week and return on Tuesday, the bank hol means I’ve had 8 days off. Will I need a sick note? How does it work?

I am pretty sure it's only working days that count for self certification so as long as you wouldn't normally work the bank holiday it should be fine.

Thanks - I’ve read online it includes weekends and bank hol as part of consecutive days. Can anyone clear this up for me please?

It's definitely 7 consecutive days - so weekends and bank holidays included. You will need a sick note.

You will need a sick note Op you can only self cert up to 7 days that includes bank holidays and weekends

Do you work the bank holidays though? Surely you can just say that you are well enough to return to work on Monday 7th but then won't need to go in as it's a bank holiday, having it as a day off rather than a sick day? Then go back to work on Tuesday 8th.

Never been in this situation before so no idea how it all works. Can I ring the drs and get them to issue it for one day? I went in to work briefly this morning - lasted all of 30 mins before I said I needed to come home. Does this mean 7 days start from today or will they count it from Monday?
