Does anyone just not get Braxton hicks?

34 +3 and I don't think I've had any Braxton hicks - is this normal?
Baby is head down and moves in and out of engagement (based on the pressure, or lack of that I feel) I occasionallly get bits of my bump going tight and hard, but it's more like where she is pushing out against my stomach than the entire bump going hard.

I never felt a thing (other than baby moving) until my first real contraction.

Don't worry; everyone is different and you could be having them but just not feel them.

I didn't have any contractions at all with both my pregnancies until I actually went into labour. I think it's normal!

BlueisthenewGrey · 01/05/2018 15:39

I had no Braxton hicks, no dramatic waters breaking (thought I was pissing myself). 😂 contractions started about 12 hours later.

Thanks all. Was starting to get a bit concerned, but glad to know it's not unusual. Should know by now that there's never any guarantees with pregnancy and everyone's normal is different!

I think what you are describing is a mild braxton hicks contraction.

HolyShmoly · 01/05/2018 19:39

Do you think? It doesn't feel like it's my uterus doing the tensing, just the position the baby is in at the time. Like, you can see the lump coming out as she pushes.

I don’t recall getting them either.

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 01/05/2018 19:41

I didn't get any with my first pregnancy

Lightsong · 01/05/2018 19:41

I never got them in either of my pregnancies

PsychedelicSheep · 01/05/2018 19:42

I didn’t get them in either pregnancy

LRL2017 · 01/05/2018 19:44

I never had any either and my contractions started after my waters broke

WindyScales · 01/05/2018 19:44

You might get them later in your pregnancy. I’m 39 weeks and only had them in the last 10 days or so.

Babynamesfourweeksleft · 01/05/2018 19:45

I def think your bump going tight and hard making it feel like your baby is pushing out, sounds like a braxton hicks contraction to me.

Smurfybubbles · 01/05/2018 20:30

40+5 here and I didn't think I'd had any either until the last few days when I've realized what I though was him changing position making my bump hard was actually Braxton Hicks all along Blush
My bump would stay hard for half an hour or more at times which midwife said is the case for some women!
Right now I wish he'd stop practicing and come already.....

laelti · 01/05/2018 21:11

Never had any Braxton Hicks (or none that I recognised!). Midwife at my antenatal class said some women just don't.
I also didn't lose my plug until I was 8cm dilated and don't know when my waters broke (assume in birthing pool). So my body wasn't into signs apparently!
