Fibroids and cysts

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and last week was picked up to have a 3.5cm cyst on ovary and a fibroid in womb lining (size was not mentioned). I haven't been given much information. Don't meet a Midwife until 2 weeks time. Has anyone had an ovarian cyst/fibroid in pregnancy before? Did it impact on it?

I had a cyst that was found in my 12 week scan, roughly the same size as yours. I had a tiny bit of a bleed the night before my 20 week scan, a bit more than spotting and called the midwife who said if it doesn't carry on just wait til my scan to have a look. I went to my scan and the cyst had all but gone. They assumed the bleeding was just the cyst draining.

Unfortunately no experience with fibroids but usually cysts are just follicles that need time to drain.

Hi girls, I have a 5cm fibroid on my left ovary. Doesn't cause me problems unless they push on it with the ultrasound wand. I was slightly worried that it will start giving me grief when the baby is bigger and pushing on it but it doesn't bleed or anything! The doctors don't seem bothered by it either!

Thanks both - it's good to hear some stories that it doesn't do much except possibly exist and drain (most likely scaring the hell out of you with the bleeding).

It did scare the hell out of me at the time but honestly it was only a tiny bit when I wiped after the loo. After two wipes it stopped and I've had no problems since. Obviously with any bleeding it's best to talk to your midwife but I thought it might ease your mind a little to know it might happen.

I was told I had a fibroid at my 12 week scan, they then couldn't see it at 20 week or 28 week scan so it didn't seem to cause any issues but they did the extra scan at 28 weeks just to double check, was nice to see baby again Smile

I had a cyst and fibroid seen on scan at 12 weeks. The cyst has gone and I'm left with the fibroid at 33 weeks. It's an issue for my pregnancy purely due to its size and location. It's blocking the baby's exit and baby is transverse because she cannot go head down or engage. I have been advised most likely I will be having a c section at 39 weeks.
