Help with maternity wear

Just that.. I am going on holiday in early June and looking for affordable maternity wear. I will only be 5 months so I think I'll only really need maternity shorts/leggings/jeans and maybe just regular tops and dresses a couple of sizes bigger.

My last pregnancy was at the other end of the year so it was all jumpers and easy to style. I'm really struggling with outfits for summer time. Does anyone have some good recommendations for online maternity shops - and any style tips for a hot holiday at 5months pregnantGrin

ASOS always have a good range and their own brand stuff is pretty reasonable.

New Look

Another vote for new look, boohoo for cheap items. I like H&M leggings with the huge over the bump bit!

I got some lovely shorts from next - they came up quite big so don’t be tempted to size up.
I also would recommend white linen maternity trousers (I got mine from mothercare in the sales after Xmas) - they were super comfortable and cool and I could dress up or down.

When I went on hols, I invested in one of those button/zip extenders and carried on wearing my normal shorts and trousers. Since I was in long tops it was hidden. mines was from mothercare and would attach to all buttons andnclasps and had coversnin black, navy and white.

Worth considering?

When did you all start buying/wearing maternity wear?

bella1426 · 30/04/2018 20:26

Just got a really nice maternity denim skirt on ASOS (if you type maternity denim skirt) in the search it will come up. Think that's going to be my uniform for hols and hot days at home!

I think Dorothy Perkins is the best atm. H&M pretty good too.

Dreamingofkfc · 30/04/2018 20:33

I've just got some stuff from Dorothy Perkins, via the Debenhams site. Quality is good and prices reasonable. I'm just sending h&m stuff back as the sizing is huge and quality poor

Thank you all so much, I didn't know Dorothy Perkins did maternity! Asos and boohoo were both strange fits on me during the last pregnancy but definitely going to at least try again. Xx

Glasshalfsomething I have been trying to source something like that for a couple of weeks but I'm struggling to find what it's called, I saw a video of one and it had elastic and like a little flap of material for the zip, definitely going to try mothercare for one! Thanks x

Peacocks and Asda George do maternity wear. Asda online and my local Peacocks have it in store - which I annoyingly discovered at 38 weeks!! Some nice pieces and relatively cheap.

It depends on how much you want to spend but I recently got some really nice bits from Seraphine (dresses, trousers, skirt). They weren't that much more than ASOS/H&M but fit better and I think will last longer (H&M t shirts coming apart after 2 washes). I'm 6 months gone so wasn't sure whether to splurge but the reality is i'll probably still be wearing well past the birth. The tops I got however all looked like tents and went back but I think that was just the style.

For vests though - have tried several 'maternity' ranges and they are all either too short or too see-through. Best ones so far were normal basic long ones from tesco a couple of sizes up - something like 2 for £10.

There's a great preloved maternity clothes page on Facebook. I've picked up loads of summer bits on there which are in great condition.

usernotfound0000 · 01/05/2018 16:07

I've found Asda, H&M and Jojo have been good for summery bits. Managed to get some lovely lightweight trousers from all 3, shorts from asda and jojo and some nice maxi dresses from Asda. Also Ebay.
