I’m 39+1 today, had a sweep last week (38+1) and another one booked for Wednesday due to VBAC. My sweep went well and was told I was 1cm dialated, baby felt lower than expected at 38 weeks and I’d already started to have period pains before the appointment so naively thought baby would arrive soon. Since then I’ve had my bloody show and had episodes of strong regular contractions that start and stop. I thought it was the start of early labour but still no baby. I’m so exhausted and just want this baby out, I was hoping to ask my midwife if there’s anything else they can do, or even if I could request an induction on my due date.
Today I got a call from my midwife telling me I need an urgent iron infusion within the next 24-48 hours and fetal health will contact me to arrange this. I wasn’t expecting this call so didn’t really mention how much pain I’m in etc. They have had these blood results for 2 weeks now so I would have thought they would have contacted me earlier to arrange the transfusion. I’m just wondering if my iron levels could be what is stopping me from going into labour or if there may be any chance of the hospital being able to do anything to make me more comfortable (or have this baby!!)
Or how long it even takes? I don’t aftually feel poorly and my levels have been low throughout my pregnancy.
