I've had one. I was already dilated so avoided the pessary stage. They broke my waters at 10am and advised me to have an epidural before they put the drip up. I had an epidural put in but it didn't work cracked on anyway. Drip up at 12 noon started to get contractions shortly after managed fine on gas and air despite them turning the drip up and the contractions getting more painful but it never felt out of control and baby was born at 6pm so all quite fast. Not quite as quick as my super fast natural labour with my first but the induction labour still felt easier and less out of control. Good luck !

2 induction.

1st, 2nd baby - pessary inserted around 12.30pm, contractions started hour or two later. Sent down to Labour ward at 7.30pm and baby arrived in sac 20 mins later.

2nd, 3rd baby - pessary inserted at 12, nothing happened so second inserted at 6. Contractions started hour later, was sent to midwifery suite around 9pm and baby arrived at 1am.

1st induction was great, I expected 2nd to be quicker but was actually my longest Labour. Both went good, drug free.

I was induced at 11am on a Saturday and my little girl was here at 11pm the following day! Contractions took about 6 hours to start. In all honesty it wasn’t as bad expected, if I’d have had access to gas and air throughout (it wasn’t available on the induction suite I was on), it would have been better...BUT I ended up having her in the birth pool with just gas and air and only needed two little stitches :) The pool and just gas and air is the only “birth plan” I had, so can’t complain! Good luck!x

My induction (3rd child) was by far my easiest birth. I only needed the first stage (gel) and boom I was in labour by midnight and had a quick 2 hour labour with no pain relief.

Mine sounds crazy but in the end was actually the best outcome. I had 3 pessaries over 60 hours. None of them worked. Other than being bored of walking around hospital and bouncing on the ball and repeatedly sending 'nope, not here yet' messages i was fine.

I then had the drip with an epidural which after 24 hours had got me to 4cm. By that point i was 18 days overdue, bored, tired and hungry so i had EMCS...which wasnt at all what I'd planned (hypnowater birth was the dream) but baby was safe and i recovered fast. Breastfeeding was no problem and i really enjoyed having a few days in hospital, recovering, getting to know baby and talking endlessly to midwives.

I had antenatal depression but no PND or birth trauma.

Hope all goes well Flowers
