I'm 39 and just over 6 weeks pregnant. Unplanned so was drinking everyday until I found out. Also was not taking any folic acid. I had a cold once so used a decongestant 3 times, started using a nasal spray for hayfever, bee pollen for hayfever, kalms tablets once or twice a day for anxiety/stress, antihistamines, I think that's it! Some of which shouldn't be taken during pregnancy. Worried have done harm to baby!

Any advice Please?

Hi, as far as I'm aware, you don't share a blood supply until 6-7 weeks, and the baby is happily tucked away with a little egg sac. Once the umbilical cord grows, what you have is shared with the baby.
Folic acid is present in loads of foods, so you'll more than likely be fine :)

Don’t worry. I drank quite a bit the weeks before I found out I was pregnant, plus I was still taking the pill and other meds. Like you I was six weeks. I said all this to my doctor and he said not to worry at all. It’s what you do from now that counts. Nature knows there is a time when you don’t necessarily know you are pregnant. Good luck with the pregnancy

Try not to worry, I was on holiday and was happily drinking away, I had no idea I was pregnant. I also ate whatever I wanted and didnt think about medicine at all. My baby was fine. When I told my midwife she said its very common up until 8 weeks for people not to know and carry on as normal but its unlikely it would harm the baby just start taking your folic acid and quitting the tablets/ sprays that arent pregnancy safe now :)

I had been on a few nights out and had wine at home a few times too leading up to me discovering I was preg. Was also taking strong migraine meds not suitable in pregnancy and had been grieving as a close friend died suddenly. My m/wife said not to worry, I'm now 17ish weeks and all looks good with baby. Try and relax and enjoy your pregnancy from here on, so many women are in this position in the early days. Speak to your doc about preg safe alternatives to your previous meds. 🍀💕

Adding to what others have said, antihistamines are one of the first things the GP will prescribe for sickness if you're suffering later. Try not to worry and get on the folic acid asap.

I got completely smashed before I knew. Singing in the taxi, losing bank cards, walking home carrying my heels smashed. I cried when I confessed to my midwife and she laughed! It’s incredibly common in thos early weeks, don’t worry. What’s done is done. For what it’s worth I’m 25 weeks now and everything looks good.

I’ve worked with women who’ve taken crack throughout their pregnancies and their babies are fine. They’re tough little things, that’s how the human race has survived this long.

Yes, do remember all the addicts who have absolutely perfect babies. Even for them, the chances of having a seriously FAS child are not that high. They tell you to avoid alcohol completely because they don't know what the 'safe' level actually is.

But my diet has been really bad too. This is my third pregnancy as I already have a 10 and 6 year old and I really wanted to be pregnant last 2 times despite risks etc but this time I feel my family is complete and at my age, do I still want to be doing the sleepless nights etc

Read something similar to this I would give your gp a call and they may want to scan you early x
