What baby lotion to buy?

Hi, wasn't sure where to start this thread but here goes.

I'm starting to think about buying baby products for our unborn.

Myself and DS have eczema so it runs in the family. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for natural creams, body wash, lotions etc that I can use on the baby once it arrives.

Obviously I know they don't need it straight away but for when they do.

I want to be using something that is super natural due to my family's history with eczema.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with any body washes , just use water. Use e45 on baby's skin if it's dry.

My doctor also gave me something to add to my baby's bath water to add moisture to his skin. I forget the name of it but it's in a bottle and makes the water milky looking.

Thanks. Yes I've used that oil prescribed from doctor that you add to water and makes it milky looking. I found that worked well for my ds.

Seems like such a long time ago when I has ds I simply can't remember at what age you use products on babies!

I never used any lotions on mine and just used a non perfumed basic soap.

They really don't need any lotions or soap.
I don't think we used any soap until dc were crawling/getting grubby.

The baby product market is ridiculous in that they try to sell you so many things that you don't need, so I understand you asking this question op.

Like a pp I didn't use anything other than water until my children were messy toddlers that actually got dirty when they played.

I found the aveeno baby range absolutely excellent for when my DD has eczema. They have an eczema therapy baby moisturiser which cured her of her really dry red skin when it flared up.

We didn't use any body washes or soaps until our son was about 4 months old, we now use a lavender wash by earth friendly baby I think it's called. No moisturiser, just coconut oil. Nappy cream we use Weleda calendula or Waitrose bottom butter Smile

We use castille soap on DD who has eczema. She is bathed daily but only use the soap once a week when washing her hair. Just water on all other nights is more than enough.

We just used water for the first few months. Then moved to oilatum and weleda. Acerbic cream on dry patches.

BertieBotts · 27/04/2018 12:42

I don't really know what baby lotion is for?

I had something from weleda for dry or irritated skin.

Thank you everyone. There’s so much stuff on the high street but if you’ve all waited until they were older then i’ll probably hang fire unless the baby develops eczema which is my main concern since ds suffered badly with it.
