What hobbies do you have during pregnancy?

So I'm just over 9 weeks pregnant and recently I have been feeling really down!

I have lots of assignments due in on my full time college course and I am really stressed at work. I feel drained! Constantly tired with a headache and feel nauseous!

Before I found out I was pregnant I would spend any (rare) free time socially drinking with my friends but of course I can not do that now! It definitely wasn't a hobby but it was a pass time and was fun! I still see my friends having catch-ups, going out for food ect but I just feel like I need something else in my life other than work, college and occasionally seeing my friends!

My question is, what hobbies do you have? I'm hoping for a bit of inspiration! Of course it would have to be safe but willing to give anything a try! X

I have very restricted mobility with my pregnancy so knitting baby clothes and blankets!

Belkinsboo · 26/04/2018 20:14

Lego! Occupies the mind, can still have the tv on and keep half an eye on it, stops you from scrolling through lots of pregnancy issues searches on google Grin

Same as my non pregnancy hobbies really! I swim, read a lot, see friends, walk the dog, yoga

No hobbies at moment as got morning sickness trying to hide at work and with that and my older kids am in bed as soon as they go to bed. But need to keep reminding myself that the sickness doesn't last for ever. It cleared at around 14 weeks with previous pregnancies and then got some energy back. Am hoping to start swimming again and see if I can find an antenatal yoga class as always enjoyed them.

Oh gosh pretty much everything I already did! Swimming... countryside walks... theatre...cooking from recipes...badminton... aerobics... lots of options:)

Sunflower2018 · 26/04/2018 20:21

Thank you all! Will have to try a few of these!

Moaning that I can't drink or anything .... which is hilarious considering I never ever drink pregnant or not I have 0 interest but just get agitated that if I decided miraculously to have a glass of wine I now can't 😂 x

Writing. I suddenly fell pregnant, panicked, and thought if I don't manage to write a novel now I never will. I managed to churn out two not very good books before I started maternity leave.

Other than that, I got a new really demanding job that meant lots of late nights Sad so I didn't have time for much else.

Puking, sleeping, staring at food I can’t stomach, staggering into work looking dead, moving house, I thought these were all the usual pregnancy hobbies?

Aw12345 · 26/04/2018 20:32

I can honestly say that I do nothing I used to do (except work!). I'm far too knackered, would say I feel like I'm just surviving the pregnancy not really thriving!

MeadowHay · 26/04/2018 20:40

I'm the same as Aw mostly although still doing some reading now and then. Really struggling with pregnancy unfortunately and still only 32 weeks. My energy levels are right down and as I work full-time that's all I can really do as I have to put all my energy into that and then have none for anything else. It is going soo slow...

SoyDora · 26/04/2018 20:47

I should mention that with two pre schoolers already I don’t have all that much time for hobbies anyway!

Mamabear1475 · 26/04/2018 20:49

Lying down covered in Doritos dust watching crap on tv for every second I didn't work. Pregnancy made me so lazy Grin

samewitches · 26/04/2018 21:42

Eating was my hobby. Not so much in my first pregnancy but for my second I took it very, very seriously. Bags and bags of crisps, ice cream, huge comfort dinners, more crisps, Pret sandwiches, McDonald's. I really went for it and enjoyed every moment!

Bluebirdsky · 26/04/2018 21:45

I am also studying and just trying to get my last masters assignment finished before the baby comes. I go to a pregnancy yoga class and go swimming a couple times a week. I am also trying to teach myself to knit and make a blanket for the baby.
I also like going to the cinema and reading books that aren't text books! I am also doing an online hypnobirthing course.

Ploppymoodypants · 26/04/2018 21:46

Technically everything I did before I was pregnant, day trips with DC, dog walking, horse riding, gardening, allotment, socialising. (apart from nights out drinking). But reality is so tired and so sick all I want is sleep. So my current major hobby is napping and then waking and obsessing about the one food that won’t make be feel sick that we haven’t got at home and wondering whether to go to 24 hour Tesco and get it.

hammeringinmyhead · 26/04/2018 21:57

Cinema (husband and I have limitless cards), Netflix, reading lots of psychological thrillers, napping... Not exactly active, me!

Angharad07 · 27/04/2018 03:54

I’m in exactly the same boat. I’ve just handed in my dissertation for my undergraduate degree and now I feel really drained and deflated. Normally I’d have had a bottle of wine to celebrate with friends.

I’ve got loads more work to do anyway but I feel disconnected from all my friends now that I’m pregnant. No one knows yet apart from bf and bf close family (only 7 weeks). Everyone’s talking about what they’re doing after uni and through the summer and I just have nothing to say. All the plans and hopes that I had for the next year are redundant. I’m just a broke student with no place to live after uni finishes in July. I can’t seem to get a decent job without hundreds of training programs, work experience, postgrad etc. Ugh pregnancy and stress don’t go together Op!

As a hobby I would suggest something therapeutic that makes you feel achievement like cooking a complicated meal or something with a creative outcome. Cooking is my new favourite as I can’t drink- I’ll just eat lots instead!

I'm studying a foreign language.... Just to keep the mind busy...
