Please can someone help me! My hay fever & allergies are out of control! I wake up in the middle of the night streaming and sneezing, not fun for either of us. I'm 16 weeks pregnant so can't take antihistamine. Anyone got any remedies / tips / suggestions?? Please....
fingers toes & nostrils crossed!! 🤞

You should go and see your GP they should be able to prescribe you something. When I was pregnant a good few years ago now I was given a steroid nasal spray and some eye drops by my GP. Helped with the worst of the symptoms.

I've been told by GP & midwife that piriton and cetirizine are safe to use whilst pregnant. Nasal sprays are not effective for me personally.

My GP has refused to give anything (twice in the past week - really struggling!) but I have been using Prevalin nasal spray which is drug free which is fine to use.

My hay fever went bonkers when I was pregnant. I didn't stop working but was sneezing so much I could do very little (fortunately have a supportive team). My sinuses were really painful too. GP refused to prescribe anything so was left with snorting saline as the only option. Didn't help a massive amount.

I suffer terribly with hayfever and really didn't want to take anything especially at beginning of pregnancy so I had acupuncture for it. Worked amazingly well in just one session and have barely sneezed all summer (live in New Zealand) and haven't taken any antihistamines at all. Normally I take 2 a day every day All summer. Really helped my heavy chest that I often get too.

I went to the gp and got a prescription for antihistamines that can be used in pregnancy. I was nervous about taking drugs that haven't been tested on pregnant women (just because they don't test drugs on pregnant women) but my gp pointed out that they've been prescribing certain antihistamines to pregnant women for 40+ years and really would know if there are adverse implications by now.

I asked my midwife at my bookong appointment yesterday as I get really bad hayfever. She told me to ask a pharmacist so will be doing that at the weekend!

I went to my gp and was prescribed my usual antihistamines, nasal spray and eye drops.
We had a chat about the fact they can't state categorically that they are suitable for pregnant women as it is unethical to test drugs on pregnant women, but that there was no evidence to indicate any risks, but he was happy to prescribe them.
