Bleeding after intercourse?!

So I’m 33 weeks today and last night during intercourse there was blood, not just spotting but enough to be on me and my partner and took about 3 wipes for it to be gone (sorry for tmi) there has been no pain and nothing this morning was literally just during/after intercourse. This is the first time it has happened.

I have phoned midwife and she seemed to have just fobbed it off. And not worried at all. Just wondered if anybody else has had this? What could it mean? I can still feel baby moving around and kicking so don’t think there is snitching wrong. But can’t help but worry?!

I had cervical ectropion during my first pregnancy which can cause bleeding after sex. To be on the safe side, as with any bleeding during pregnancy, perhaps best to be checked out at your hospital?

This happened to me when I was around 24 weeks, definitely enough blood to make us panic. I called the hospital and they got me in straight away to be checked over, and tried to keep me in overnight (I discharged myself as I wanted to be at home). They explained that because there is so much more blood pumping around the area it's easy for damage to occur after sex. I was told to avoid intercourse for two weeks to let it settle down, and the bleeding hasn't happened again.

As the bleeding has completely stopped and you're not in any pain you're most likely fine. This was the main concern for midwives at the hospital. I called my community midwife the day after for a follow up, and she got me in that week for an extra appointment to check me over. You could try that to put your mind at ease?

Thank you ladies. I did infact go to the hospital as couldn't stop worrying about it and everything was fine. Was basically told the same thing as you honeybee. :-) x

Glad to hear you're okay and got it checked out! It actually put me and my partner off having sex completely for some time. We only recently started again (I'm 31 weeks) but we're being incredibly careful. It's not happened again thankfully :)

I know! I'm 33 weeks and was panicking thinking of god somethings happening lol! Hoping the next 7 weeks fly by though! Felt so fed up and not enjoyed this pregnancy one bit compared to my first! (I've had no sickness or anything either) just feel fed up, fat, grumpy and no energy this time round!

Hope all ok with you :-)
