26 weeks too late to start pregnancy yoga?

I've had persistent nausea and have been very tired, so although I was interested in pregnancy yoga earlier, I didn't take it up.

Nausea is now reduced and I have a bit more energy. However I am carrying twins, so I'm quite large already.

I've done yoga in the past, but not recently. Is it worth starting now, or too awkward to practice new movements when my body has already changed so much?

I'm 23 weeks and starting to think about it too. I don't have an answer but am following to see what others say.

My midwife told me this morning that it’s fine to carry on doing any exercise that you’ve already been doing, as long as you are mindful that you are pregnant and don’t do anything crazy! I’d go for it and go along to a pregnancy yoga class, the teacher will guide you through and just listen to your body. Pregnancy yoga is far more relaxing than regular yoga or something like Power yoga - so if you’ve done it before you’ll enjoy it. x

Definitely not too late! I've just started a four week course. At 21 weeks pregnant I was one of the smallest bumps.. there were ladies up to 34 weeks there. It was very much a do-what-feels-good vibe with modifications if anyone felt sore. It's helped my sciatica already!

No, definitely not too late. I started going to my weekly class at 25ish weeks, but we had two new people yesterday (29 and 33 weeks). It's different to regular yoga, much more about relaxing and opening than vinyasas. Honestly I was a bit apprehensive as I used to practice ashtanga and vinyasa styles, but I'm a complete convert and get so much out of it.

You can start pregnancy yoga right up to birth as long as it’s a proper pregnancy yoga class and not just a normal yoga class that the teacher is adapting for you.

Certainly not too late. Pregnancy yoga is verrrry gentle.

Another vote for not too late! I started in my class at 18 weeks (she only takes women from 16 weeks) but other women further along have joined with no problems. Every time it's necessary she gives the adaptation for what to do if your bump is too big to let you do the movement, and you stick with the class right up to 40 weeks, so you're definitely not too big for it to work for you!

I started at 27 weeks currently 29 and loving it as long as you go to a proper antenatal yoga teacher they will know what’s safe 😊
