Sharp painful breast 24 weeks pregnant

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone could help! Saturday night my breasts both started leaking in 24 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Sunday morning I started experiencing really sharp pain in my left breast, it got so bad I couldn't function with my left arm properly and the only way to describe it is it feels like I've slammed a door on my breast. I started getting panicky and as I'm paranoid about things like this I started checking my boobs, in my left breast I felt a more obvious lump in my lower left breast which I'm quiet stressed over. The pain eventually went away and Monday morning I booked in and went to doctor about it. All she said is it's normal to experience pain in your breasts and I actually had to make her examine my breast because of the lump, She said it's just the milk glands expanding getting ready to produce but my right boob feels nothing like this it feels normal. Now tonight I've been experiencing the same horrible pain in my left breast and it feels different and swollen compared to my right. Surely if this was to do with pregnancy it would be in both breasts. I'm 22 years old and all I keep having in my head is the word cancer. My doctor hasn't really reasured me at all and I'm becoming more paranoid and worried about It. When I seen my doctor she said she wouldn't send me to be scanned anyway as I'm pregnant so it's like she wasn't intrested but I want to get scanned and don't no how to go about this! Can anyone help or had any kind of similar experience any advice will be helpful! Thanks

I recently went to to the doctors ( 20 weeks now ) because of a pain similar and was refffered to the breast cancer clinic - ( results were all clear !) but they should've referred you anyway ! Try not to panic but you know your own body ask for another doctor x

Being pregnant has nothing to do with being scanned !
They will first check your boobs by hand and then it's like a ultrasound for your boob ! If anything comes up abnormal then they will send you for the proper scan hopefully this won't be necessary for you x be persistent x

Thanks for reply! I'm trying not to panic but it's hard not to specially when my doctor isn't being helpful at all, does anyone no if a nurse can refer you as I don't want to be dealing with my doctor again she's the only one in the surgery or does anyone no if I can go anywhere else to be referred. X

She also felt the lump I was on about and had a concerning face and just shrugged it off and told me it was nothing. I thought it was bad I had to make her physically examine me!

It's highly highly likely that the doctor is right and it is pregnancy related and to do with your milk ducts and your body getting ready to produce milk.

It's really normal for some women to get sharp pains etc in their breasts when this happens. It sounds like you are starting to produce a little bit of colostrum already as well. That happened to me with DC1 around 24 weeks and progressively got worse so it's probably worth getting some breast pads if you haven't got some already,

Please try not to worry too much. The link below is from breast cancer care and explains why you might get (non cancerous) breast lumps in pregnancy.
