Had my 32 week appointment with midwife and am suddenly measuring two weeks ahead. Now really worried. Anyone else had similar?

Hi @Addy2 - I have just been told I'm 1cm ahead of my dates at my 28 week appointment. I'm not sure what that equates to in weeks. I went into panic with my midwife and she's told me not to worry and that if they were worried they would book me in for a growth scan. Have you been booked in?

Is this using a tape measure?

TwittleBee · 24/04/2018 11:44

Firstly tapemeasure measurements are super unreliable because your bump could be measuring bigger for a great deal of things that aren't related to the size of your baby. That is what my MW said when she measured me suddenly 3 weeks ahead of dates when I was 36 weeks. And tbf I had suddenly started craving cream cakes so I had been eating 1 a day since about 34 weeks!

But then also a week later I gave birth! Had a very healthy sized baby at 37 weeks weighing 7.5lbs!

Like AKP79 said though, if they were worried they would have booked you in for a growth Scan Smile

I'm measuring 2 weeks over, am 33+4 today. My MW said they allow for a certain leeway over or under, and as long as that doesn't change dramatically over the final weeks they don't worry 🙂

I measured 3weeks ahead by tape and 2 ahead by scan --- there not really accurate so I wouldn't worry ! The 11lbs baby they said I was having , came out 7lbs 9oz :) xx

Pickledgerkingsareathing · 24/04/2018 19:28

Ps - they thought they was so sure I had growth scans every two weeks from 32 weeks and was induced on my due date and had a emergency c section ! Do not panic atall x x x x

Thanks guys, just noticed these replies, sorry! I'd given the thread up for lost before @AKP79 responded- was in the grips of melodrama when I posted originally, convinced I'd overeaten and caused a
giant infant Smile. I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead but booked a private growth scan which said it's a big baby. The baby's abdomen is apparently on the 91st centile. But I've come to terms with it, and everything looks healthy, if large, so fingers crossed it all goes well. Thanks again x
