Spotting at 14 weeks

Went to the toilet about half an hour ago and wiped , there was a tiny spot of blood then again when I wiped a second time with a streak of brown. Since then I've been again and there's no spotting to be seen. I'm 14+2 today. I've left my midwife a voicemail but I doubt she will respond on a Sunday.

Hiya, try not to worry! Easier said than done I know, but spotting can happen at any point and for many reasons - most of which are nothing to worry about. It happens to lots and lots and lots of people who have healthy pregnancies. I obviously can’t say everything is fine - you’d need to see a doctor to be totally sure - but I’ve read that a little spotting is absolutely nothing to worry about. Fingers crossed all is absolutely fine in there.

@lovesrunning thank you, I had my 12 week scan two weeks ago and the heart beat was strong, everything looked fine.

Ahhh that’s fab! Hopefully all well. Sorry I can’t offer more reassurance than that but I couldn’t ignore your post. I’m a couple of days ahead of you and would also worry if I saw spotting, but I’m sure you’d say the exact same thing about not worrying. Get it checked out if it happens again or you can’t shake the worry.

Is it unusual to have a miscarriage after 12 weeks? Especially when you've seen the heartbeat.

It is unusual and from what I've read you would expect quite severe pains and full bleeding. A missed miscarriage after 12 weeks is extremely rare so a little bit of spotting shouldn't be a sign of anything untoward, although I completely understand the worry! Hopefully you won't have any more and when you speak to your midwife tomorrow she will set your mind at rest xx
