...how much you have actually had and it still be ok?

Ive had a rollercoaster for the last 3 weeks with small episodes of bleeding, inconclusive scans et

On friday i had a scan which showed a 7.5 week foetus with a heartbeat.

Today I have started bleeding, but its more than I have had before - red and not just when I wipe iyswim

Can there still be hope?

I bled with both girls in the beginning.

Mine was pink and enough to wear I needed a pantyliner.

With DD2, it lasted about a month - from about 6-10 weeks.

lulumama · 13/05/2007 21:39

there can still be hope.....fingers crossed

heartbeat is a good sign

is is the time you would have had a period?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 13/05/2007 21:42

no, about a week away from period due time i think

Bled with both my pgs
Ds - bled from week 6/7 until I gave birth! Usually, at least 1/2 bleeds per week, but more frequent at the beginning - more like every other day. Mostly red/brown, and some small clots (sorry if tmi) sometimes pink, not huge amounts of blood most of the time...
Dd - just a couple of bleeds, red, heavier, again earlish (before 12 weeks, can't remember when now...!)

It is horrid - until I had the 'relatively' painfree pg with dd, I didn't realise how on edge I was all the time with ds.

Someone told me that something mad like 30-40% of women blled in early pg. But not wure if that's a made-up-stat. I certainly seem to know lots of them!

Oh, and dd & ds both fine.

ChocolateFace · 13/05/2007 21:47

Peck, with my 3rd pregnancy I had spotting at 6 weeks, heavy bleeding with the loss of clots of 8 weeks, what seemed like a normal period at 10 weeks and a huge bleed with the loss of massive clots (wich I presumed included the baby) at 12 weeks.
DD is now nearly 22 months old.
There can still be hope.
Good Luck!

onlyeatsyoghurt · 13/05/2007 21:59

Didn't know I was pregnant til 6wks as I still had a 'period'. Had bleeding on and off til around week 16. No pain but sometimes the bleeding seemed heavy (fresh blood dripping into toilet etc). DD now 9mths!

elsieanjoanne · 13/05/2007 22:01

i had a bleed an it was fine i rang th mw an got into right state had to go for scan in gynae found out was 6weeks not 11 now my dd nearly one

ChocolateFace · 13/05/2007 22:01

I think if you have cramps with the bleeding though, you really need to worry, obviously.

elsieanjoanne · 13/05/2007 22:03

if you worried get it checked out best you dont stress yourself on something that could be fine ring no in your antenatal book talk to midwife

hairymclary · 13/05/2007 22:04

yes, there can still be hope. I had heavy bleeding at 6 weeks with my first pg- they found no cause.
ligher bleeding with this pg- again no cause.

a friend of mine has had absolutely horrendous bleeding- literally soaking through sanitary towels in a few minutes. her scan showed that a bit of placenta had come away and they think it was a broken blood vessel. However, all is fine now and although she is scared still they have said that there is no reason why she shouldn't carry this baby to term and it be happy and healthy

morocco · 13/05/2007 22:10

some spotting a few times (like the last day of a period|) and one day of big bleeding that filled a few pads and was bright red. that one was at about 16 weeks and was from a retroplacental haematoma, don't know what caused the others. ds2 is now fast asleep upstairs so there is hope always

peanuthead · 13/05/2007 22:50

I had so much bleeding at 11 weeks ended up in AandE with a trail of blood behind me, soaked through pads, pants and trousers, clots on the floor, nurse said yes so much blood was probably a mc but they couldn't scan as it was 2 am (of course...)

Gruesome night, went in thinking the worst and saw the baby waving on the screen - still feels like a miracle and I'm 25 weeks now.

I carried on bleeding for about 3-4 weeks afterwards.

I've never heard of anyone else bleedding so much so feel like i'm on a one campaign to tell people it can be ok!

Pecka - it's really more common than you think to bleed, although obvioussy you should get it checked out again.

toomanyshoes · 14/05/2007 00:21

Really glad to see this thread tonight as am 6 weeks pg and have had a bit of bright red bleeding today. Will ring docs in the morning but it has made me feel much better reading some positive outcomes so thank you!! Pecka, will keep everything crossed for you!

serenity · 14/05/2007 00:30

I bled on and off throughout my pgs with the DSs (but not with DD weirdly) The worst bleed with DS1, I was sitting on the toilet and it was a steady stream like I was having a wee (sorry if TMI). With DS2 I soaked a pair of jeans down to my knees. Not fun and very scarey, even with DS2 when I knew it wasn't necessarily as bad as it looked, but both DSs were fine and were overdue in the end! I never had a definitive reason - theories included m/c a twin, cervical polyp or erosion, slight placental tear.

Go and get another scan (I bloody lived in the EPAU) , fingers crossed for you pecka.

how is it today pecka?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 14/05/2007 16:54

very very light, just a brown discharge

which is great but i have notice some tiny, thready tinsy teeny clots

but im not thinking about those

today im feeling ok

tomorrow will probably lurch back to despair - oh the joys of pregnancy after miscarriage

lissielou · 14/05/2007 16:56

once a heartbeat is established the risk of mc drops quite a bit. can you call the epu again ask for another scan just to put your mind at rest. the clot type things could well be old blood from your bleed

Glimmer · 14/05/2007 17:08

Hi Pecka, as I have posted before I had very similar bleeding including thready clots for three weeks and also some red bleeding and everything was fine at 12 week scan. I know about the helter-skelter and have no advice to offer, only that everything can be okay. I think of you over the next 4 longest weeks of your life.

looneytune · 14/05/2007 20:13

Pecka - sorry about earlier. Presume you couldn't get back through to me or didn't get my messages?? Bloomin MSN is playing me up - loads of people are having problems getting messages to me.

Anyway, hope you're ok and if you want to chat but can't get me on MSN, you can always email or text me if you still have my details (on my website if not, www.helenslittleangels.co.uk if you can't remember )

Sure you'll be fine but I can totally understand the worry.

Oh, and let me know how it goes with your first client

MerryMarigold · 14/05/2007 20:18
