I had a small dollop of this at lunch time but now DH is worrying me by saying that he thinks I shouldn't be eating it. It was only a very small dollop so i'm sure it's okay but I would like to know please if DH is right(as I have a huge tub in the fridge!!)

thanks all

Taramasalata is extremely good for you at any time but esp while pregnant, as it contains plenty of vitamin D. I'm pregnant and eating LOTS of it. I promise you it's fine. Tell your dh to stop being so paranoid and tuck in

mckenzie see the Food Standards Agency's website here in case your dh gets paranoid about anything else!

thanks guys, I am pleased as I love it but dont normally like to eat too much of because of the fat content. But, if it's full of Vit D then best I go and get the tub right now

I've been stuffing my face with it this pregnancy. And I'll be having a glass of wine tonight- visitor's coming- can't wait.

Spending a part of my life in Turkey, I lived on Taramasalata.....I have a great recipe but it never turns out quite how my Turkish grandpa made it, I think the roe must be different here.

I say it can't be bad for you, it's full of natural things, (oh I might avoid the supermarket ones that are really pink, they do add food colour, but that's more for children I think). Eat away and enjoy.

I feel hungry now and have a craving for it....

Soooo jealous. I love pita bread, taramasalata & a good squeeze of lemone juice. It's taken me a year to find it here (Houston)......and it's only available at ONE Greek restaurant where it's called Tarama Dip - I'd been getting the strangest looks asking for taramasalata, I think they all thought I was talking backwards!
