Pain in upper left abdomen

Would really appreciate some advice. I’m 16 weeks pregnant with DC2, history of high blood pressure but not currently medicated. For the last few days I’ve had a niggling pain on the upper left hand side of my (small) bump. It seems to come on at the same time each day, and definitely has grown more painful rather than niggly today. Haven’t felt the baby move yet so I don’t think it can be position related. Anyone have anything similar?

Rule one - worsening pain or pain that doesn't go away the get checked.

I am 24 weeks tomorrow and from 18 weeks I had a short stitch in my upper R side while I walked and it's just recently stopped. Similar times during day and annoying but not painful enough to be in minds to call doctor.

Could be round ligament pain?

If concerned get checked.

Is it just to the left of you belly button? If had this on and off for a few weeks and I think it's an odd stretching pain. It can be quite sharp but doesn't last long. As pp said if it gets worse or you're concerned, do see a Dr.

I've had this, I meant. Stupid phone...

It’s up quite a bit higher than my belly button, about 2 inches below my rib cage. I’ve just been sick as well - although this could be normal pregnancy sickness which I do suffer from.

Supposed to be travelling for work on Monday for 4 days, which is making me a bit anxious.

Ok. That's above where your uterus should be at this point. It might be your large intestine. Especially if you're constipated at the moment? Doesn't sound like food poisoning if you had the pain yesterday then it went. Don't travel if you don't feel well though.

SoupyNorman · 21/04/2018 20:41

Not constipated. Been sick quite a few times since posting so maybe I have some sort of a bug.

Thanks for the replies - and pointing out that it’s above the uterus, that’s reassuring. History of mc and had a slightly high bp reading on Friday (140/100) so I was fretting slightly.

No worries. If you are being sick a lot or the pain gets worse or you are worried, call 111. If you have a temperature try to bring it down with paracetamol. Hope you feel better soon!

Rib flare, potentially? I had it throughout and it was bloody awful, horrific pain.

speakfriendandenter · 21/04/2018 21:59

It may be nothing, I had a baby who liked to keep their foot there, but it can be linked to preeclampsia (I think) I know midwife took an interest when I mentioned it in this pregnancy as I have a history of preeclampsia.
Best to speak to your midwife to be on the safe side.

SoupyNorman · 21/04/2018 22:16

Can it be pre eclampsia before 20 weeks? I’m only 16 weeks.

It could just be symptoms of. It's just worth mentioning so midwife is fully aware.
