First baby - excited and terrified at the same time!

Hi all, I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my first baby and this is my first message on the boards although I've been reading them for a while - we've just got a new computer with internet access and I'm not allowed to post at work.

I found the board cos I bought the 'Mums on Pregnancy' book and really enjoyed reading other mums experiences.

At the moment I'm veering between excitement and terror at the of being completely responsible for another little human being, but most of all I can't wait to meet my baby.

Anyway, sorry for waffling - just wondered if there are any other first timers out there who are feeling the same way as me?

Hi again to all - Seized the opportunity to get on the computer on my day off.

Anyway, I have a question for second/third/fourth etc mums about giving birth. I'm getting very anxious about labour now and have had a couple of nightmares about giving birth and not being able to control the pain or have any pain relief. Is this normal? Have any other first time mums had or are having this problem?

Despite all this I am still generally enjoying my pregnancy and am really looking forward to meeting my baby for the very first time, can't wait to find out if I am having a boy or girl!!
