Have quite a few metal fillings and concerned...

Does anyone have any of those amalgam fillings? I have quite a few and I'm a bit concerned about the mercury in them and it affecting my unborn baby. Is this something to worry about?
I keep getting a metallic taste in my mouth. I know this can be a weird symptom of pregnancy but I'm 18 weeks now.

They have a tiny amount of mercury in them and release almost undetectable amounts when they are sitting in your teeth (less than you’d get from eating a moderate amount of tuna). The time the most is released is when they are removed, even then it’s neglible

How is your oral health now? Hopefully you don’t need new fillings regularly? The white fillings have questionable chemicals (Bis phenols which can mimic hormones) in them so the best bet is to have no new fillings at all.

My oral health is ok at the moment apart from this one tooth that has a metal filling in it. All the rest with fillings seem OK and I don't need any more doing I don't think. I just have this really weird metallic taste in my mouth and I can't help but think that filling is what the horrible taste is caused by.

The fillings aren't causing the taste or unless you have a cracked one then it's down to pregnancy taste (like you've licked a battery!)

It does go away in a few weeks (mine went at 15 weeks).

I found milk aggravated the taste and in morning and evening was worst.

Your oral health takes a beating in pregnancy so make an appointment for a check up and tell them your concerns - they will do a clean but won't touch your teeth unless an emergency or infection etc.

I have 7 of these fillings in total. It can't be good that can it?

pregnancy not the fillings cause the metal taste in mouth. It's horrible, sympathies. It only happened in my first pregnancy, I can be grateful for that.

I have (had) about 15 mercury amalgam fillings in my mouth when I was pregnant (all 4 pregnancies). No apparent ill effects on any of the babies I carried.
