4th trimester advice!

I'm struggling today! Read all up on the 4th trimester and DS (8 days old) has been needing lots of cuddles and on/off feeding between 2 and 7 am every night where he won't settle in crib. But today this has started at 230 this morning and is still going. Just won't settle unless on me or partner and only latching on for 5-10 min feeds then falling asleep. Anyone experienced this or have any advice? I just need some sleep!!

I think you’ll find it hard to find a Mum who hasn’t experienced this. It’s all completely normal but they change very fast so hang in there.

Is it very warm in your house today? Maybe try and make sure Baby is fully stripped off (down to nappy) for feeds in case being warm is causing them to fall asleep during feeds.
Unfortunately it's all completely normal though and you are doing a great job, it doesn't stay like this forever so keep going Thanks

Thanks for the advice! Its quite cool in our house although he sometimes gets frustrated and ends up really hot so I'll try skin to skin at next feed. He currently is snuggled in a little bundle on my lap looking very content!

Can you feed on your side? Or cosleep?

In your shoes I'd probably retire to a cool shady bedroom with baby today and just doze, feed and snuggle. It's hard but normal and does pass.

This happened to me on day 8! Big you haven't already, do read the Wonder weeks. It tells you why these developmental stages occur and may set your mind at least that things will improve!!

Have you tried the pram? Can someone just walk for an hour so you can get some rest? Being awake from 2.30 is not fun.

Keep going OP, I firmly believe in the 4th trimester and you just have to roll with it. It will improve Flowers

totally normal, it passes. I saw nearly every hour of clock for weeks and DS took a long time to be putdownable.

To reassure you, he's nearly 10mo now and as i speak, is sparko in his cot, has been for 75min, and only 2 feeds since we got up

Once you get smiles, and giggles, it starts being easier

Stretchy wrap. Just in a nappy or a vest if it's warm where you are. I remember walking round in circles for about 2 hours with DD in the wrap because it was the only thing that stopped her crying.

This can be completely normal. If your baby is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies a day, and good weight gain then all is in order. It will pass. It's just so exhausting isn't it. Good excuse for a sofa day and lots of skin to skin/cuddles.
