Why am I so upset? Packing bag

Finally starting to pack my hospital bag. With only 10 days to go!! I feel so upset and I don’t know why??! For some unknown reason I’ve decided that I hate the little sleepsuits and bodysuits I’ve bought for the baby...

I’m not an anxious person ever, but I now want to cry because there are tiny little yellow stars on the clothes and I now really hate them (otherwise they’re a nice white and grey colour).

This is crazy, I know. Don’t want to call DH, as he’s really busy at work and I know that I’m being oddly irrational.

I think I’m going to give the current clothes (brand new, freshly washed) to the charity shop and rush out to Next now to buy new ones.

Any advice please? Do I need to buy cotton hats for my new baby to wear in hospital?

Aw OP you're just nervous and hormones are going loopy. We do all kinds of things when pregnant (and after!) due to the hormonal and emotional changes.

You change the suits if you want to. It's fine. Yes to a couple of hats. Some hospitals provide them but you might want to bring one just in case you don't like theirs Grin My DD had a wonderfully tacky handknitted one...bright pink...nothing like I'd have chosen but I thought she looked fabulous in it.

Try and calm down a bit, maybe go for a walk or go online and order a few new bits but don't throw those ones away.
Once the baby is born all these things will seem insignificant xx

You're emotions and hormones are all over the place and this is more likely linked to your feelings about the impending birth and motherhood than to the clothes themselves. Why don't you leave the packing for now, do something else that's nice for you, have a lie down, go sit in the sunshine and read a book, go for a walk.
Then maybe go back to the bag later or do it when DH gets home.
It will be ok Thanks

You've got hormones running riot, be kind to yourself. It's scary and unknown and totally natural to be worried and projecting that onto tiny things that don't really matter!

Lots of breathing, maybe a nice stroll in the sunshine? Best of luck.

Honestly the baby doesn't care what pattern it's throwing up on. You're just having a wobble, calm down. You'll be fine Smile

Within half an hour it is likely to be covered in sick/milk/poo/other bodily fluids. I’m sure they are lovely and good luck with everything, hormones are a fucker Flowers

I’m normally completely level headed but couldnt bring myself to pack my hospital bag. DH had to do it for me.

However, once the baby was here I was fine. He on the other hand got all emotional and racked with guilt and self doubt cos he was struggling to get the car seat in the car for the journey home from hospital. Grin

It’s an emotional time for everyone. Don’t worry. Smile

Thank you all for the reassurance that I haven’t totally lost the plot lol.

I managed to rush to Next yesterday, buy some new little sleepsuits/bodysuits/hats etc, then rush home to wash them. Feeling much calmer now...just need to iron them and pop them in my bag this morning.

Panic over. Sounds daft, but now I feel ready for baby to come Smile

Good luck with the birth OP and enjoy your baby! Flowers

Thank you all. I took the new clothes I bought to hospital, which worked well. Grateful for the advice though to keep the other stuff I didn’t like, as my baby is now wearing it all and I really like it again haha. Must have been a weird pre-birth wobble 💐

Bless you, this made me chuckle (in a nice way). It's helpful to read these sort of posts to prepare me for whatever might go through my head when the time comes. Glad baby is here now and all ok xx
