Varies by area. I'd ring the surgery and ask how it works locally. Congratulations!

Google Maternity for your area. In many you can self refer online. If you can’t find anything, call your GP surgery and ask for the protocol. You definitely don’t need to see GP - I did when I got pregnant as I thought they did a test and then referred you on, was a bit surprised when they looked at me like “and...?”, took my word for it and told me to make a booking appointment at reception with the midwife. In fairness I did have things I needed to discuss with the doctor, but was still surprised they didn’t do a test or anything!

My Doctor didn’t double check either. Just got me to speak to the receptionist and book with the midwife. I also got a little info sheet on vitamins and the midwifes phone number x
