Travelling abroad while pregnant- having a wobble

Hi

Hoping to get some thoughts on the following. Pregnant following a fairly prolonged period of infertility and IVF. Husband keen to go abroad for holidays, we're thinking Malaga when I'm about 16 weeks (probably for 10 days). Saw my consultant today at 13 weeks and she says good to travel and all looks good.

Why then am I having a small wobble about travelling ? This has been the longest winter ever and I literally feel like I haven't been outside in months. We both need a holiday badly. What should I do / what would you do? Please give me a kick up the bum! Smile

A x

I flew to New York and back at 17 weeks with no issues. Make sure you have insurance that covers pregnancy, but if you're fit and well there's absolutely no reason not to go!

I flew to Japan (stop in Hong Kong) at 16 weeks, back at 19. Was okay - just make sure you have flight socks :)

Hi, just back from 4 days in amsterdam at 18 weeks and it was absolutely fine, kept pace with my non-pregnant friends no problem! Got a couple of other things booked too. You can take it as easily as you like if you’re going to Spain, will be a nice rest! X

I flew to South Africa at 8 weeks, New Zealand at 16 weeks and numerous flights to Holland throughout, right up until 32 weeks.

If you're worried check with a doctor.

I was recently in that neck of the woods but at 27 weeks and with a toddler. I am neither especially fit or particularly stoical and it was fine. I used my flight socks and made sure I stayed hydrated but no other special precautions. The second trimester is definitely the best for holidays.

Go, and enjoy Smile

Thanks everyone! I'm blaming the pregnancy hormones. Will go ahead and book and enjoy (sun at last!!!)

It’ll be fine! I flew to Paris, Milan, Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona while pregnant, and had my last pregnant holiday at 34 weeks.
Just make sure you keep cool.

I flew to Colombia for a work trip at 24 weeks and worked 14 hours a day for 6 days solid. It was fine. You'll be extra fine if it's travelling for a holiday!!

Get travel insurance, pack your notes, look up the nearest medical facility to your accommodation and then RELAX and enjoy!

I'm going away at 31 weeks (booked before pregnant, probably wouldn't have planned it that way!), MW said as long no complications arise, it will be fine and just enjoy yourself, relaxing is good! I went away at 13 weeks in my first pregnancy and it was lovely to just do nothing! Enjoy!

I'm flying to Vegas at 23 weeks (coming back at 25 weeks) - the midwife is going to write me a fit to fly note & I've booked aisle seats & got my flight socks ready.

Just check your insurance & you should be fine!

I went to Rome at the beginning of the year at 15 weeks pregnant. All absolutely fine Smile

Nothing better for you now than some sun and relaxation, just as your out of the first trimester - it's a long, hard 12 weeks!

Rome wasn't exactly a relaxing break with all the walking but it was just what we needed.

I am flying to Eygpt on saturday for weeks and will be 15 + 3.

And if the GP gives the ok work have asked me to go out to the phillipines for 2 weeks when I will be about 22 weeks

I'm going to new York in 3 weeks - I'll be 13 weeks. My midwife said that 2nd trimester is best time to go. On have an appt at hospital a few days before to pick up framing as the flight is more than 4 hours. I have flight socks already
