Sorry if bit off putting but was wondering if anyone has seen a mucus plug from themselves that look a little like this? I’ve had a couple of friends say they think it is But when I rang midwifes they completely just dismissed what I was saying as discharge and sed discharge is normal within pregnancy.. I’m 33+4 but had this on sat. I have gestational diabetes too. 😔 had odd pains and aches some quite strong but nothIng enough to feel the need to ring hospital. I don’t think. A lot more back ache then i have had at all throughout pregnancy. It’s my first pregnancy (that’s lasted anywhere near this long) I’m happy for it to be either way but kind of just want to know 🙈

Usually mucous plug is possibly thicker but definitely bloodstreaked as far as I remember!

Aprilmightbemynewname · 16/04/2018 18:27

Looks like normal pregnancy cm to me. Mucus plug will be blood streaked at least.

ILikeMyChickenFried · 16/04/2018 18:29

No blood would make me.doubt it being the plug which I'm sure I've read can regenerate anyway.

Pregnancy mucous is surprising stuff. I'd say that a just a big glob of that.

BobLoblawLawBlog · 16/04/2018 18:30

Looks like the very start of mucous plug to me. I started losing bits of mine at about 34/35 weeks and was clear/slightly snotty looking then the blood streaked stuff came at 38 weeks. My midwife said that people often start to lose bits of plug early and it replaces itself.

Becky2604 · 16/04/2018 18:32

I did think that they was supposed to be bloodstreaked. But leaflets that I was given and a lot of other sites say can be anything from clear to bloodstained, green 🤢 or even black 🙈 which then got me thinking even more. Then after showing the friend I was talking about they both said there’s didn’t have any blood in it. Which confused the matter further for me 🤣

Pretty sure I didn't have blood when I lost my plug, but had a bloody show a few days later.

The plug was a more darker colour than clear, and there was A LOT OF IT.

Becky2604 · 16/04/2018 18:38

it’s just a matter of waiting and seeing I suppose. 🙈 just so impatient got to have her early anyway due to growing too big. And closely monitored because of the diabetes.. but only had midwifes and antinatal last week. Before this happened

When I lost my plug after a sweep type intervention by my ob, it wasn't blood streaked. A few little drops, barely visible, and for the next day and a half it was like massive watery discharge. To the point I had to change panty liners several times a day. Sorry if TMI.
Intervention done on Friday late afternoon, cervix closed and still at 1 cm. Discharge started in the night. Come Sunday morning my midwife examined me and was amazed: cervix gone and open half a cm. That night contractions started. Midwife examined at 10.30 am on Monday and was flabbergasted (that I walked 10 minutes to the hospital): cervix open 4 cm.

I would definitely insist on being examined if I were you. Especially with back ache. My labour started like that.

Becky2604 · 16/04/2018 18:47

My other half is insisting on ring 101 to see what they say. As the pains are quite strong but not lasting and not regular.. was getting quite a few pains before this happened and when rang midwifes they say they think it could be her moving down into pelvis. But then dismissed this 🤔 I don’t like looking like one of these people who run to midwifes/hospital every 2 secs with anything. So kinda just leave stuff 🙈 but it’s bothering me more then I thought it would.

Don't ring 101, the police won't be much help - try 111 Grin

My plug was a big orange blob, no mistaking it. I then had a bloody show about 5 days later, which was also unmistakeable. No labour though, boo.

Put on a pad. If it's the plug, there will be more. I've had 3 babies. 1st plug just looked like blood, like a period. Second was clear like glucose syrup until I was contracting. Third was like thick rust and then blood.

Becky2604 · 16/04/2018 18:53

101🤣🤣🤣 thats coz that’s what he’s said 🙈🙈 that’s baby brain coming out that’s what I meant 🤣

I’m 40+5 and have this pretty much every time I wipe and have had for weeks.

I also get on off pains and have done for weeks. I’m hoping it’s slow labour so that the real thing will be quick and easy 😂😊

Becky2604 · 16/04/2018 19:13

That’s the way I think with stuff like this 🤣 fortunately for me I won’t go that far. Will be induced or section at around 38 weeks. But as for stuff like this it’s the first think I’ve had come out at all. So really did notice when I did wipe. And not had anything at all since either first pregnancy too so never know it’s always good for other people’s opinions and experiences. :)
