Car seats

Hi, I'm getting really confused about baby car seats. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and buying one is next on my list. I'm getting lots of second hand things but a car seat is something I think is important to buy new. I'm being given an oyster travel system so ideally want to buy a car seat that will fit on it. I've not seen it but it's from a friend of a relative and has lots of new unopened extras I've not been to look at yet... Should I just buy the oyster car seat? The thing that is confusing me is that it says you can attach an oyster compatable car seat but even with an oyster car seat you also need to buy an adapter.. Are there better car seats that you can fit onto oyster travel systems? The oyster car seat looks fine I'm just a bit put off by the extra charge of an adapter. I've got serious baby brain, and can't get my head around travel systems. Help!

I think Maxi Cosi ones fit, but you'll need the adaptors either way, whichever seat you choose Smile

Most (but not all) travel systems require some sort of adapters to fit the car seat to the chassis. It might be worth checking with the person you are getting it from if any of the extras they have are the adapters?
Sometimes adapters are included if you purchase as an entire travel system package including car seat but often they have to be purchased as extra.
Do you have isofix and will you be planning to buy a base? As it doesn't look like the oyster car seat has an isofix base so this might be something to consider.

We have the Mothercare Roam and it doesn't need adaptors. The Mothercare brand travel systems are at the lower end of the price scale, so by the time you're costed up the additional bits you'll need for the Oyster, it may be worth looking into a whole new travel system. It depends on your needs and budget.

Thanks everyone, got a bit of studying to do on car seats and travel systems.
