Lingering headaches at 16 weeks - anyone else???

I'm 16 weeks preggers and have had a neck ache and headache on and off for the last few days. Last night it actually woke me up! I've taken paracetamol but it's not doing much, I'm drinking so much water so can't be dehydration. Most likely hormonal and my MW said not to worry but it's so annoying! Anyone else had the same thing??

Yes! Posted a thread just yesterday about horrendous headaches! Some helpful replies on there. I'm 16 weeks too. Woke up today without one thank God but it's like Russian roulette- never know when they're going to strike! :(

Nearly 20 weeks and still getting them. A little caffeine, lots of water, paracetamol and the 4Head sticks seem to work but you should mention them to your doctor or midwife too.

Yes me! I'm 18 weeks now and still getting them. It's all down my neck and top of my shoulders too

HellaBella0 · 15/04/2018 12:04

Yes 16 weeks too and exactly the same. Trying not to take too much paracetamol but have had to give it on occasions. Like you it's not doing that much though. Lots of water, a hot water bottle on back of my neck seems to relieve it a little.

I had the exact same around that time, horrible tension headaches! Go for a head and neck massage if you can (or get someone to do it at home for you) and if you are using the 4head stick make sure you apply it across your forehead, on your temples and across the back of your neck and shoulders! Oh and I found swapping to sleeping on one pillow for a few weeks helped, eventually back to two when the headaches eased!

The only thing I haven't tried is 4head so perhaps I'll get a stick tomo. I'm terrible for popping a nurofen for any ache and pain when not pregnant so am struggling with this constant headache! It's a relief that I'm not the only one tho, what a rubbish pregnancy symptom lol!
I'm hoping they get better rather than worse!!! 🙈

I'm sure i read on a thread once before that a can of coke was worth trying. Something about caffeine / restricted blood vessels?

jubbablub · 15/04/2018 16:44

Yes, combined with my current sleep issues, they are the bane of my life. I find coffee makes it worse and paracetamol doesn’t touch them.

Yes I had awful headaches but they went around 18-19 weeks.
I found 4head helpful and a cold flannel or ice pack on the back of my neck and sometimes a bit of caffeine also helped.
I used to sometimes take 2 dissolvable paracetamol in a bit of full fat coke and found this more effective than normal paracetamol alone.
Or sometimes just one cup of normal tea helped.
