8 weeks. Am I further along?

Hi. My last period was Feb 18th and from what I remember it was a normal period, 5 days, first day pain (although less than usual). I am now pregnant and by my calculations based on that period I am 8 weeks today.

However, I believe I am starting to show. Its not bloating, its a proper little bump below my bellybutton. My sister (a nurse) was even shocked when she saw me today and said I dont look 8 weeks. I have been feeling sick since about 5.5 weeks but I also felt sick the week before I found out (I found out 8 days before my period was due).

My question is, is it possible I am further along than I thought? Did anyone go to their first midwife appointment to be shocked that they were 3/4 weeks further along than they thought? I have my first appointment in 6 days but I cant help but be curious.

Good luck with your appointment. My partner and I thought we were 11 weeks but turns out we were nearly 13 weeks when we went for scanning. We have a healthy baby growing now! We were shocked but it was a happy shock! Good luck to you. Smile

My bloat looked like a proper bump at 8 weeks, a friend who knew commented I was starting to show, then it deflated around 13 weeks and I've been showing properly since about 24 weeks, hideable till about 30 weeks.

Congratulations! Thanks

I hope you don't mind me asking but how are you so sure it's baby not bloat? I'm very bloated and look 5/6 months pregnant sometimes (not even 11 weeks yet) and my bloat is just bellow my belly button.

Maybe it is just bloat. This is my first so I didn't even know I could get bloat just below my belly button considering how flat my actual tummy is. It's all very low. Not going to lie, secretly hoping I am closer to the end of the sickness more than anything else lol. I really hope the midwife can give a guess as to where I am week wise next week. Waiting til my 12 week scan to get a proper due date seems a little long.

The midwife can feel your stomach but unless you're loads further along (as in 16 weeks etc) I'm not sure how much more exact she'll be able to be? They just work off your last period the same as online calculators.

It could seriously just be bloating - with my first pregnancy I looked quite bloated low down through my first trimester. And in both pregnancies I've had the weird thing of looking bigger at night and flat stomached in the morning as I got more bloated throughout the day!

Could well be bloat. I had to go up a clothing size due to it from about eight weeks. Switched to proper maternity gear at about fourteen weeks, but even that was still mostly bloat! Such a magical time, isn't it? Grin
