Almost 40 weeks and no signs of labour

I'm 39+4 and having absolutely no signs that labour is on the way. I have endometriosis and was told that this could lead to premature birth so I kept expecting baby to arrive early and now feel shocked that I'm still pregnant!

At my last appointment the mw said that head wasn't yet engaged. My bump hasn't dropped. I'm still eating like a pig. I haven't lost mucus plug or had a show.

The only thing thats changed this week is that I'm more exhausted than ever and struggling more and more to sleep. I'm extra moody and sometimes weepy. And if one more person messages me saying "any movement yet" I'm going to SCREAM!!!

40 weeks and 4 days today! Increasingly grumpy! This is my second, and I didn't expect to go overdue. And So. Many. Messages! I do love my friends and family, but just want to text sarcastic messages like 'oh yeah popped it out a couple of days ago. It didn't mention it' My hormones are out of control! Grin

I’m only 31 weeks but I have every sympathy for you, my other 3dc were all late, between 6 & 12days late. My youngest didn’t engage until I was in labour with him, he was 11 days late and funnily enough he hates being late for anything now!
I hope your babies arrive soon for you 😊

41 weeks today and still no sign, baby is far too comfy in there....wish me luck with my second sweep on Monday! First one did bugger all!

El1995 · 14/04/2018 18:01

Oh and like you I'm also fending off the continuous stream of 'any news yet' comments 😣

Kirta · 14/04/2018 18:06

@El1995 was it painful? I declined one on Thursday as I went in naturally after 5 days overdue wth my first, so wanted to go a few more days without intervention! I'm quite scared of a sweep!! 😳

El1995 · 14/04/2018 19:15

That was the first time I've ever had anything like that done or been 'probed' so to speak 😂 @kirta I know all the websites I Googled said it was uncomfortable and tbh that's the best word I can find to describe it! It wasn't painful, just a little bit uncomfortable, it only went on for a few mins max, and then I was out strolling through the park! To be honest I'm up for anything to get this baby out now! Mine was a failed sweep as my cervix was still shut, so it didn't get done as It should :-( I guess it depends on the person! X

Oh ladies as sorry as I am to hear that your babies are still in there, I'm grateful that I'm not alone!! Also glad to hear I'm not the only one frustrated by the daily messages @Kirta your post made me laugh so much!

I know the labour inducing tricks are old wives tales but out of desperation I had a curry last night .....and I don't even like curry! It did nothing, I'm still very much pregnant Hmm
And I can't bounce on my birthing ball for a moment longer because my vjay feels like its getting friction burns!! Oh the joys.

The last weeks are like that. Many women go 42 weeks with no signs. In my experience the signs started on the day or the day before.

I know it drags like mad the last weeks. Best of luck with the baby

Kirta · 15/04/2018 20:23

@ForeverHopeful21 I know what you mean about the curry! I'm not a massive fan, so when we went out with friends last week for curry, there was a lot of eye rolling when I ordered a korma
Apparently sex is the best way to get things moving but it's hard to feel sexy when you look like you've swallowed a space hopper! I have tried a new, untested method today. I've tried to eat so much that it physically forces the baby out. It hasn't worked, but I had a delicious roast!
@El1995 so sorry the sweep didn't work! I'm going to be brave and have on on Thursday and pray my cervix is open for business!!

Don't worry things can change very quickly. Midwife couldn't do a sweep as baby wasn't engaged and cervix was nowhere to be seen. 2 days later I still had absolute no signs and was moaning and whining that I was going to end up being induced. Waters went about 4 hours later and baby arrived just under 3 hours after that.
