Consultant appointment

Just had a letter through the door for an appointment with the consultant. Thing is, I wasnt expecting it as the midwife didnt mention me being referred during my booking in...

My bmi is high at 32 and I had assumed this would mean I would go consultant led. But during the appointment I asked if it would stop me having a water birth and the midwife said it no as I was only a little over. I have no other high risk factors.

I'll call the midwife on monday to check (so annoying to get the letter on saturday lol) but having a small panic that maybe something else has come back on my bloods.

Has anyone else had this? Do you think it'll just be the bmi or the bloods?

Thanks

I would say it's BMI related. I have had to see a consultant because of mine and mine is higher than yours. My midwife told me from the outset though so definitely worth checking with her on Monday Smile x

It depends on your areas policy as some are very strict on BMI and health history for pregnancy etc.

I'm consultant based for second time and get on so well with mine I don't plan my birth - just assume the position when needed and listen to them.

What MAY happen is a consultant check up and then he discharges you back to midwives if they are happy but anything that changes and you would be Consultant led and WB is out window.

So plan for both eventualities!
