I’m 35 weeks pregnant and a gestational diabetic. I’ve been up for an hour with shortness of breath and babies movements are definitely out of pattern. Baby is kicking up a storm, really pushing out of my skin which is unusual for this time of the morning. I’m worried but don’t want to overreact. Is this cause for concern? Should I ring someone? TYIA!!

The advice is that any change in pattern needs to be checked, so yes, call your antenatal ward

ferriswheel · 14/04/2018 05:29

Go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry.

Mustang27 · 14/04/2018 05:40

Yep call and go in. It's probably nothing but never worth the risk.

Lucky11111 · 14/04/2018 05:42

If YOU are short of breath, then your BABY is suffering too.

Sudden onset of shortness of breath could be a pulmonary embolism - Common in later pregnancy.

That is a blood clot in your lungs. Bits could break off and end up in your heart or brain.

This needs checking ASAP.

HOSPITAL - NOW.

Thinking of you today, OP - sorry I was blunt earlier - was typing in my sleep after a bad night. Xxx

Rachie1986 · 14/04/2018 09:28

Have you been checked out OP?

mum2bemay22 · 14/04/2018 10:36

Hello all, sorry for the late reply! I managed to calm my breathing down and relax at home which saved a trip to the hospital. I know I should have gone but I go twice a week as it is and I wanted to see if I could settle myself, I think I panicked in the moment! Baby seemed to settle down eventually and is still moving this morning so I’m not too concerned about him. Thank you all so much for the advice, praying that it doesn’t happen again!

Hope you are still doing ok@mum2bemay22

I had to go in yesterday afternoon as his pattern had been completely out all weekend after the episode with the violent kicking and I was monitored. I was having contractions on the toco bit of the monitor 😨 but I was sent home. I have terrible pain in the middle of my chest but I’m back in today as my routine checks so I will mention it today. Hoping these next three weeks fly by and I can finally meet the little man inside!

It sounds like anxiety but I’m glad you got it checked out! I’m 34 weeks and my little human has been going absolutely crazy coconuts the last day and a half! He’s never done it before really. I think it’s possible that he’s changed position and went back-to-back possibly and it’s why it looks like something from Alien now... although I’m not sure.
