Is it possibly my waters?

Im only 26weeks but i felt what could only be described as a snapping feeling deep inside. Now i went to the toilet and had leaked through a pad and knickers. Ive got changed and currently lay down to see if it pools after half an hour. I keep feeling what could be a trickle.

I was in hospital on monday with spotting and the doctor said my cervix was completely closed. I dont want to ring and just be a pain to the maternity unit. Ive never had my water "break" before so im not sure what im meant to be looking out for.

Could someone please tell me what im looking out for?

Each time my waters broke, it was complete gushing constantly. This may be different for everyone though. I did feel the snapping feeling you describe.

Twitchett22 · 13/04/2018 21:59

Mine was a gush but I know it can also be a trickle. I had like a 'click' feeling when they broke. Ring the maternity unit to be safe. I gave birth 2 hours after my waters breaking with only half an hour of contractions - very unlikely to happen to you but get checked to be on the safe side Flowers

When mine broke it was just the tiniest trickle, absolutely no gushing at all. I really wasn't sure what was going on so I called the midwife and she said to go to the hospital just in case. It turned out my waters had broken. I don't recall any snapping feeling though. Apparently if the baby is quite tightly lodged in it can slow the flow of the fluid. I would give the midwife a call, you will not be wasting their time. Good luck.

I'd deffo give someone a call x mine was only a trickle xo

Aprilmightbemynewname · 13/04/2018 22:04

Please get checked out. You and baby are open to infections if it was your waters.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 13/04/2018 22:05

Please phone and get checked out

ScienceNut · 13/04/2018 22:07

Get in there asap, if it is your waters they need to do whatever they can as fast as possible to develop babies lungs prior to delivery.

If it wasn’t you can come back home and thank your lucky stars.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 13/04/2018 22:07

When mine went it was like Niagara Falls. There were literally pools of it while i scrambled about for a towel.
No twang or pop though.

PurpleSnails · 13/04/2018 22:07

I'd definitely get checked if I was you.

FaithEverPresent · 13/04/2018 22:09

Mine was a gush too, but I agree that doesn’t mean it isn’t your waters. I would ring and ask to be seen. Keep your pads as evidence of what’s happened. Some midwives claim they can tell from the smell?!

CatherineCawood · 13/04/2018 22:11

You 100% need to go to the hospital now. Don't think just go. Hopefully you'll be in home a few hours but may need medical intervention. Good luck.

Kidssendingmenuts · 13/04/2018 22:17

My first was a fish but my second was a trickle like I was peeing myself and I couldn't control it. Stick a pad on so midwife can check colour too but defo ring them. Better to be safe than sorry xx

Kidssendingmenuts · 13/04/2018 22:18

Gush not a fish 🙄 x

Lmj25 · 13/04/2018 22:24

Mine was a trickle I'd go through x

RosieCotton · 13/04/2018 22:39
