Looking for cool ideas to tell dc who is 8 and see when others told their dc?

We are expecting #2 at start of August and our Nursery has subtly been helping our daughter get prepared for a sibling by choosing books and doing wee art things with the kids.

Our dc1 is only 3 so she won't get it until she becomes slightly more verbal but she knows something weird is going on with tummy.

Maybe the book approach and letting questions be answered - keep it simple 🙂

I told DS (6) after my 12 week scan. He knew I had been feeling poorly (morning sickness) so we told him that I went to the hospital, checked my tummy and found this (handed him the scan pic)

my DD is nearly 4, i’m 18 weeks and i haven’t told her yet. i felt nearly 6 months (after 12 week scan) was too long for her to wait! i’m waiting for the 20 week scan to check everything’s okay and hopefully i can tell her if she’s having a brother or sister.

After the anomaly scan.

I said along the lines “I am having another baby”.

We told DS after I had my 12 week scan just after his 3rd birthday, I had already had about 6 weeks of morning sickness but he didn’t seem to notice!
We had already bought him a dolly with a pushchair when we started TTC so he was already aware that there might be a real dolly in the house at some point. Then we just showed him scan photos of himself and the new baby and photos of me pregnant with him and explained about playing gently with mummy etc. New baby is 4 months old now and he is very involved with helping and seems to like her a lot most of the time (although he did throw a rubber dinosaur at her when she was about 2 hours old!)
