I was just wondering when the consultant will call to have a chat and set a date. I am 36+1 today and I was first referred to the consultant midwife at 28 weeks. Our intentions were to have a water birth and since day one I told my midwife this, I was never told that it would not be possible so I was left to believe that I would be able to give birth in the MLU with little intervention, silly me
. I had an emergency c-section with DD1 but it was 9 years ago.
Nobody called me and my midwife referred me again at 31 weeks, again no phone call. At 32 weeks we went to a V-BAC workshop and when we left, my partner and myself decided that it was best for me to have an ELCS. It was never our intention for me to have another c-section however after the workshop it was made very clear to me that I would not be allowed to give birth in the MLU and I would have to be monitored all the time as well as having an increase possibility of medical intervention during labour which isn't what I want. Anyway midwife referred me again at 34 weeks to inform of my wishes.
I have not received a phone call as yet and I am wondering when the consultant tends to arrange a ELCS. I understand that if we are having an ELCS they are done at 39 weeks so not that many weeks left
Any advice would be much appreciated. I was considering calling my midwife today as I am not seeing her until next week when I will be 37 weeks and I think that if I do not get a called by then I may not be able to have an ELCS.
Thank you very much.
