Recognising a missed miscarriage

I’m seven weeks. Was starting to feel the usual nausea and tiredness at six weeks. Symptoms have just stopped in the last couple of days.
I’ve heard this can be a sign of a miscarriage as the hormone is reducing?
Has anyone else found this in their pregnancy and what was the outcome good or bad?
As yet no bleeding so I don’t think I could even call epu.

Hi @Amazingalice I'm so sorry you're feeling worried. Pregnancy symptoms can come and go and that can be perfectly normal. In my case though my symptoms disappeared so I booked a private scan which confirmed MMC. I will keep my fx for you Thanks

Amazingalice · 12/04/2018 18:55

Thanks tripping. I just felt so pregnant with my ds.
I don’t feel pregnant anymore.... I can’t explain it. It’s like a gut feeling.
Hopefully I’m just reading too much into things.

I was still throwing up when my MMC was diagnosed so symptoms or no symptoms etc isn't a very reliable indicator ☹️ Could you book a private scan to see what is happening?

Soulcakequack · 12/04/2018 19:23

If you can I’d go for a private scan. I’ve had 3 miscarriages picked up this way, 2 missed and one eptoic. None had strong signs of problem but I felt something was wrong.

In fairness I felt the same in my successful pregnancy but the scan helped keep me calm in the first trimester.

I guess my point is if you can afford £70 for a scan is worth it either way.

Amazingalice · 12/04/2018 19:26

I could purple snails. I’m seven weeks two days and pretty cert on my dates so I might try and wait a week. Just because I don’t want to book a scan for them not to see and get no assurance anyway and a £50.00 cost for it.
I suppose it’s a case of sitting right.
With ds I was sick from the day my period was late. Then I had so many food aversions it was more or less ready slated crisps and toast until week 12. I detested meat, veg and most fruits.
This is so strange I felt slightly sick last week. Now nothing. And I just don’t feel pregnant.

Soulcake how early were your scans if you don’t mind sharing?
I’d go tomorrow if I could but don’t want to waste money if too soon.

It was the only symptom I had miscarried last time. The symptoms just suddenly stopped at nine weeks and I no longer felt pregnant. I didn’t feel tired, bloated or nauseous anymore. I suddenly had a spurt of energy and felt great. But I didn’t think much of it at the time, I remember googling and discovering it can be normal for the symptoms to disappear around that time as the placenta begins to take over. Obviously it wasn’t good news for me as I discovered at the 12 week scan however symptoms can and do come and go. I am almost eleven weeks pregnant now and have been extremely paranoid about my symptoms disappearing again. I have found that whilst most days I feel sick all day long, there is the odd day (like today) where I’ll barely feel sick at all. It can be normal. It can also be completely normal to just have no symptoms at all, I didn’t have any symptoms with my two DD’s.

Pinkvoid · 12/04/2018 19:31

Oh and I had two scans last time at six and seven weeks, saw the heartbeat both times. They need to be done internally at that stage but you can see a tiny beanpole and yolk sac.

Soulcakequack · 12/04/2018 20:06

Alice with my first missed misscarriage I have a scan at 71/2 weeks after a bleed although there was a heart beat the baby measured 10 days behind. A scan at 11 weeks ( due to me feeling something was wrong despite heavy morning sickness) showed the baby stopped developing shortly after the first scan.

The second missed carriage I had a scan at 9 weeks and the baby stopped at 8 weeks.

The eptopic was at just under 7 weeks, that private scan kicked started nhs care that I really needed.

With my son I had a scan at 6 weeks and 9 weeks. They showed a embryo in the right place, and then the right size with healthy heart beat. For me all the scans helped me deal with situation.

Amazingalice · 12/04/2018 20:14

Thank you soul. That’s helpful to know.
The first situation sounds really difficult knowing that something was not quite right with the measurements then finding out weeks later baby had gone.
These babies are so delicate, anything can happen in these early weeks.

Try not worry I’ve been unluckier than average. If there is heartbeat the chances of loss are very low less than 3% I think.

sparkles212 · 12/04/2018 21:57

Try not to worry just yet. I've had terrible nausea and it all just stopped at 8/9 weeks. A private scan at 7+ weeks (due to bleeding) showed baby was fine with HB but when the symptoms stopped not long after I had a panic something wasnt right. Two days later it was back with a vengeance. I'm over 12 weeks now and I still feel just as horrendous with the rare day of relief and I really welcome those rare days x

PurpleSnails · 13/04/2018 09:10

I've had two friends recently who had girls one pregnancy and boys the other and both said they felt completely different with the different sexes, so it could be that affecting how you feel.

In my second successful pregnancy I had scans at 6+1and saw blob with heartbeat and 9 weeks and saw a wiggly jelly baby. With my MMC I had a private scan at 8 weeks and could see a tiny blob but no heartbeat. I was sure of my dates as I was tracking ovulation but had to wait a further week for NHS to confirm it as a MMC.

Hope you get some reassurance soon xx

Paranormalbouquet · 13/04/2018 09:16

@Amazingalice in my successful pregnancy with DD I had only fatigue, and it was inconsistent. Had nausea on 2 days in the whole first trimester. I had 2 miscarriages at 5-6 weeks and no symptoms with them either. Had a MMC picked up on a scan at 9 weeks earlier this year. During that pregnancy I had bad nausea, could only carbs and that continued until I passed sac.

In short I don’t think symptoms mean much!

ellsharks · 13/04/2018 11:16

I have had the same thing this week, im 8 weeks but i saw my midwife yesterday and she said some peoples symptoms subdue when the placenta kicks in. I think a scan is the only way to know for sure. I have one on Sunday.

stephRK · 13/04/2018 12:29

I had the exact same thing around 7/8 weeks. I felt really poorly one day and was having bad pains in my stomach and I woke up the next morning and all the normal 'symptoms' I was experiencing had gone, even my bloated belly had gone down! I was really worried as like you had read online that it is signs of a miscarriage and ended up paying for a private scan, everything was completely fine and I'm now 18 weeks! Even now, some days I don't feel pregnant and others I feel like i'm way further gone than I actually am.
Try not to worry and I hope everything is ok x x

usernotfound0000 · 13/04/2018 12:53

In my first pregnancy, I had no symptoms. I only found out as I went for my smear, when asked my LMP date and it was a while ago (but irregular cycles) the nurse made me test and it was positive. I then remember being on the phone to the EPU one night in tears because I was sure I'd had a MC due to no symptoms and then tests getting lighter. She's 3 now. But if you can afford to, early scan at around 8 weeks should offer some reassurance.

coastalchick · 13/04/2018 12:56

We had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat. I had awful morning sickness and sore boobs. Noticed some bleeding at 9.5 weeks and scan confirmed baby had died just after 6 week scan yet my body continued to think it was still pregnant.

So I’m not sure you can take a lot from symptoms! If it would put your mind at rest, I’d book a private scan. X
